I'm laughing. I "knew" that these dots were the results of geologic exploration. Varmints were not on my radar. Next time when I'm in the area of dots, I'm going to explore and see what is there.
I had the good fortune to spend two consecutive summers in the middle of Michigan's UP conducting field sampling programs in search of diamonds. Our client was a Belgian company with principal operations in Southern Africa. Their exploration managers told of extensive sampling programs for anthills in arid regions of thick windblown cover. Some of the anthills were + 10' above surface and excavation showed the workings extended to many dozens of feet in depth below surface. So the ants substituted for auger soil sampling drill rigs quite nicely.AWG_Pics said:................ or possibly ants.
