At home in Bend there have already been Winter Storm Advisories, Watches and Warnings, and December 1 marked the beginning of meteorological winter.
So it's here - winter!

(Yes, even here... where winter means you don't use the A/C as much as in summer)

This series of storms has netted my rain gauge 2.7" of rain. Not half bad. Very little runoff. No worries about the creeks and levees. Hopefully it keeps up.

Ah yes. Don't know why but those 16 days seem interminable and then suddenly, the days are getting longer!

Is it just me, or do the shortened days seem to be less than usual?
Dan, do you mean that the short-days time of year goes by faster?
For myself, I attribute it to age -- ALL time is going by faster.

The Lady recently said, "This is the time of year Big Red likes to sleep in."

I know a guy who lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I was talking to him tonight, he told me that his car wouldn't start this morning because of the cold.
I don't know what typical is for early December in Winnipeg, but looks like it'll be brisk again tonight -- especially the windchill factor.
IMG_20221207_215011.jpg
Note that these are °F.
He tells me that -40 is not unusual, with windchill.
And -40° is that magic temperature for which you don't need to specify C or F.

When I lived in WInipeg in the 90's, we had one stretch where the daytime high never went above -30*C ( -22*F ) for over 30 days. That was cold!!

I, however, am experiencing very different climate than my Winnipeg friend.

You know it's humid when your softgel defies gravity...

... not to mention popcorn salt that's too clumpy to dispense.

Looks like Big Red gets some exercise over the next few days…
