XPCamper V2- Concept

Makes sense on the heater, but that can be designed around as I am sure you have figured out. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I think I am set for now, but in 5-10 years, I might have the money to change my rig a bit.

I'll be watching...

The way to do it is that you keep all propane related items hard mounted but you can remove the rest for a "work" truck.
This way if you use the shell in the winter you can also heat it.

"For a limited time we will offer the XP V2 Outback model which includes ALL of the above options at a
Special intro price for $ 19995.00"

After a quick look at your web site I was wondering if you had any plans for a full size truck slide in version of this? I like this price point as opposed to your original camper which I believe is over twice as much.

Love the design and cutting edge technology. If the price can be kept some what competitive you'll have a winner and I for for one would be very much interested. Looking forward to the interior view especially the bed arrangement.

On the 2nd gen taco the measurement is 80" from inside the bed to the windshield wipers.

But I can make all XPV2's to pretty much any size.

I'm assuming that is for the double cab though? I was talking about a regular cab. But if you're planning for customizing the length if needed then people shouldn't have any worries and can trade off overhang verse interior space needed.

What is the gap between cabover and cab? What flat beds are people using on the Tacoma and is it possible to built from the frame up?

At this price point, I am *very* interested...

Likewise I am VERY interested at that price point. Ideally I personally would like something like an XP V2 to fit on a 1/2 ton truck (like my F150) - the smaller trucks are too small for my family of four + dog, and the big 3/4 tons I don't need for the rest of the year when I'm not camping. I'd be ok with converting to flatbed if necessary.

My requirements are that it would have to sleep two adults plus two children comfortably. I don't need or want an indoor kitchen, I never cook inside in bear country/animal country anyway. Kitchen slideout would be perfect. No problem with rearranging a few things to 'set up' the sleeping area at night. My current FWC Hawk is just a little too tight for the four of us so I want a bit more space/less weight than the Hawk (and I'd like to find much better build quality.... :) )

Is that realistic? I was starting to think about putting $$ away for the regular XP but if something in-between, a bit more affordable, and useable on a smaller vehicle is in the offing then it might make more sense, as $40k plus the cost of a new 3/4 ton truck is stratospheric. The only downside I can think of is that I wouldn't be able to have my plan of bringing along a small motorcycle on a hitch carrier, as the vehicle couldn't handle it, and the door would be obstructed.

Exciting news, Marc! I really like what you're doing with these campers.

Yes, there will be a slide in model.

What are your plans for the tent material?

Also, what kind of window closures will there be on the tent?

Same as in the XPCamper.
Insulated, breathable, durable and removable for maintenance.

Yes, you can customize some things as lengths, interior etc.

To clarify, will the slide in model be available for full sized trucks and whats the eta on that (as the post above specified full size trucks). Thanks from the post police :D

Not sure if i want to deal with a frame mounted camper as of now, since that opens up a whole other cans of mosquito's...

I'll first do the flatbed, since it is easier to build.
Probably by the end of this year.
Slide in's will have a smaller lay out.... are more expensive to make...

I would rather find a good flatbed like the one on your rig anyway, any suggestions?

Thanks DC,

The flatbed opens up the whole camper. Hence the XPCamper.
If you go with the slide in versions you will basically have the same space as a regular camper. Different materials, better components, but still the same space.
So if you want space, you need a flatbed.
You could design the interior to your needs and shoot me an e mail.
Let's see how we can fit 4+1 in there.

The XPCamper is a totally different animal. Yes, it can cost you about $110.000 for a turnkey loaded new set up, truck and all, but you also get a cabin which is serviceable around the world, have tons of space and can carry a family of four with the bunk bed set up. It was designed as a purpose travel machine, efficient, light weight to carry lots of gear, 75 Gallons of water etc. Almost all of my customers are taking the XPCamper to places far far away. One goes to Africa for example.

The V2 was designed since I got requests for a smaller camper. Mostly Tacoma's .
and is more oriented towards the domestic traveler. There won't be any Diesel appliances, nor a huge fridge, large water capacity or storage as ample as in the XPCamper.
In the XPCamper I have over 65 cuft of storage. :D

However, the same system can be adapted to a variety of different truck sizes.

Hope this sums it up as in the differences of the both campers.

However, all suggestions are more than welcome. Can't think of everything!!

What kind of opening (or lifting) operation for the top are you thinking of?

I am using a European design coupled with gas shocks.
