Likewise I am VERY interested at that price point. Ideally I personally would like something like an XP V2 to fit on a 1/2 ton truck (like my F150) - the smaller trucks are too small for my family of four + dog, and the big 3/4 tons I don't need for the rest of the year when I'm not camping. I'd be ok with converting to flatbed if necessary.
My requirements are that it would have to sleep two adults plus two children comfortably. I don't need or want an indoor kitchen, I never cook inside in bear country/animal country anyway. Kitchen slideout would be perfect. No problem with rearranging a few things to 'set up' the sleeping area at night. My current FWC Hawk is just a little too tight for the four of us so I want a bit more space/less weight than the Hawk (and I'd like to find much better build quality....
)
Is that realistic? I was starting to think about putting $$ away for the regular XP but if something in-between, a bit more affordable, and useable on a smaller vehicle is in the offing then it might make more sense, as $40k plus the cost of a new 3/4 ton truck is stratospheric. The only downside I can think of is that I wouldn't be able to have my plan of bringing along a small motorcycle on a hitch carrier, as the vehicle couldn't handle it, and the door would be obstructed.

The flatbed opens up the whole camper. Hence the XPCamper.
If you go with the slide in versions you will basically have the same space as a regular camper. Different materials, better components, but still the same space.
So if you want space, you need a flatbed.

The XPCamper is a totally different animal. Yes, it can cost you about $110.000 for a turnkey loaded new set up, truck and all, but you also get a cabin which is serviceable around the world, have tons of space and can carry a family of four with the bunk bed set up. It was designed as a purpose travel machine, efficient, light weight to carry lots of gear, 75 Gallons of water etc. Almost all of my customers are taking the XPCamper to places far far away. One goes to Africa for example.
The V2 was designed since I got requests for a smaller camper. Mostly Tacoma's

and is more oriented towards the domestic traveler. There won't be any Diesel appliances, nor a huge fridge, large water capacity or storage as ample as in the XPCamper.
In the XPCamper I have over 65 cuft of storage.
However, the same system can be adapted to a variety of different truck sizes.
Hope this sums it up as in the differences of the both campers.
However, all suggestions are more than welcome. Can't think of everything!!
