Yakima streamline system installation

I’ve been finishing modifications on our new Grandby this week. Finally got around installing the Yakima streamline system. Components are very well engineered and excellent quality. The track was installed at the FWC factory. The system instructions are pictorial without written verbiage. They are detailed enough to get the job completed. The system comes with a torquing screwdriver tool. Basic hand tools are all you need to complete the install.



It took a little head scratching to figure the “Click” with the torquing screwdriver. It will “Click” when you reach the proper torque. The landing pads were pretty straight forward to install. Just make sure they match dimensionally on each track. The underside rubber insert will need to be removed and trimmed for the towers. Lay the towers out equal distance from center to line up with the landing pads. The final tower torque is completed after they are snapped into the landing pads.


Finished system will carry lite weight storage tubes I’m in the process of fabricating. The Jetstream rails have a channel and rubber insert on the topside. Remove the rail end-cap and slide “T” bolts or channel nuts for attaching accessories.

Very slick system with a lot of versatility in attaching items.

Sorry this is off-topic, but I'm curious about your solar panel - is that one of the newer Overland Solar panels, and if so, what is the 'watt' rating? It looks a little smaller than the 160W Zamp on my Hawk, definitely sits lower too. TIA!!

It’s a 160W Overland panel.

I went with the bars that have the open ends for tie-downs, and while they are thicker and of course less aerodynamic, they are a better bar for me as I need to tie things to my rack (kayak, etc.). Check out the ends.

I had my local 4WPUC affilaite install the tracks around the solar panel because I was a dummy and had the base track installed after I got the camper. It works, but I needed two more sets of track end stoppers bc the installers cut the tracks in half.

And I picked up a telescoping 10.5 ft ladder from amazon, perfect for getting up to the top of the roof.

Oh, and lifting the top of the camper with even one kayak on top was hard, heavy maneuver. The added weight really stacks up!

Looks Awesome! Can you add the open end tie does as an aftermarket piece to the Yakima rack?

I personally like the older Yakima round bar systems. Much stronger, and probably insignificant in mileage. If Yakima isn't selling discontinued accoutrements for round bars anymore, you can find them on Ebay.

I used the longest version l believe they are 70”.
