More Imperial edicts: It has started, I was just reading in the latest High Country News, they are ignoring how the environmental process is supposed to work and are not waiting for the law suits to wind their way through the court system before starting to develop plans for the new Grand Es/Bears Ears Monuments . . By not waiting, they intend speed up the EIS process by a few years. They are keeping with their new management style and have told the respective BLM staffs to incorporate only positive comments and to ignore any unfavorable comments they receive about the new changes to the monuments, when they prepare the new EIS's. We keep waiting to hear what will happen to our own monuments here in Cal/Or/Nevada, but the states have warned them not to touch them! Full speed ahead and ignore the law!
It also seems that they are rushing ahead with their plans to reduce Interior staffing by 4000, & continue to reduce the budget, and to reorganize the department --again by ignoring the usual review process. This new organization is supposed to be based on watersheds ( while that be could okay environmentally, not using the present state/regional boundaries leaves the states out if the process and that upsets them and is not in line with another "new" policy of more local management). From what I've been hearing, some on the GOP congressional oversite committees like it, but the administration is ignoring comments from their usual industry supporters, who see allot of problems with the (draft) thoughts of the Zinkster and his crowd! More fun, and more emails to send!
