RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack plate screws

Greetings I finally got around to installing my MaxxFan and, while doing so, noticed one of the screws on the jack plate was backed out a bit. I went around and checked them all and found that every one could be tightened a turn or two with a socket. Given how critical these are, has anyone...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grand Canyon noob.

For the North Rim, there are miles and miles of well maintained dirt roads in the Kaibab National Forest. There are lots of camp locations, many with canyon views. There is a visitor center in Jacob Lake but nothing there opens until about May 1. I have led mountain bike trips up there for...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Compressor Fridge Recommendation

Love my National Luna Weekender. Freezer is great and there is plenty of room for 2 people's food and drink. http://www.equipt1.com/item/weekender-52-liter-fridge-freezer-stainless-steel I am trying to figure out how to make it work in my new (to me) Eagle Camper. Cheers

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rotopax installed on FWC Hawk Backwall

OK. I just mounted mine using the same procedure as CDBROW1 and you show in your video. I tighten the first handle and then tighten the second against that. I'm not Charles Atlas but once they are locked, I cannot move them at all. I tried rotating in both directions and they just do not move...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3 way Fridge Advice

Thanks everyone. I need to refine my search skills because I did check but did not find anything relevant. Last question -- do you run the fan FWC installed to cool the fridge box while driving on hot days or does air flow over the camper keep it cool enough? Cheers and thanks again...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3 way Fridge Advice

I have not had the opportunity to use the fridge (Dometic 3 way) in my Eagle yet but plan on doing so in the next few weeks. In the past, I have always used a National Luna compressor fridge which I love but have not yet figured out where to put it. Here's where I need some advice. When...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Locking the propane compartment

Dr J -- if you go their website they have an order form with all the specs of the various sizes. I simply removed the original locks and followed their instructions -- there are a couple of different measurements needed. All the locks were a little different but the order form made it easy. I...

My wife and I drove to Prudhoe Bay last year and I can't tell you the number of people who advised against driving the Cassier -- too remote, bad road, blah, blah. It was absolutely the best part of the trip.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rotopax installed on FWC Hawk Backwall

I have the base mounted to an Aluminess box that attaches to a swing arm on my rear bumper. Pretty much everything else is the same as what you showed -- I don't think the basic design has changed. I have no idea why they would be different but I might add a bicycle lock to the handles anyway...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rotopax installed on FWC Hawk Backwall

I have had mine stacked on an Aluminess cook box and driven many, many miles down bad roads and they never move at all. When I first mounted them, I twisted and turned them to make sure they were secure and could not budge them. Adding a bike lock is certainly additional piece of mind. I look...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West East of the Mississippi FWC owners chime in

I live 1 block east of the Mississippi in St.Paul. We bought a lightly used 2012 Eagle and have it sitting on a 2012 Tacoma. We only have a few nights in it but we are planning a trip west in the next month or so. We have travelled much of the country and spent much of last summer driving...

DrJ As you suggest, I may just use a battery charger to get the last bit. Dumb question, with two batteries, do you just charge them separately? Cheers

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable panel Heat question answer by Renology Tech Dept

IMHO, an 8-12% loss of output is not insignificant. Add shade to any part of the panel and the deficit gets even bigger. I have the yakima tracks and I will build something utilizing those.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My Solar Project

This has been a very useful discussion. Not to muddy the water, but I have one question I cannot seem to find an answer to that seems relevant if you are considering solar. Do solar panels need to be installed with a gap beneath them for cooling? I have seen installs that glue the flexible...
