RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West OK I goofed :(

I bent my roof on my old 2002 Hawk hitting something with the roof up. I put wood blocks above and below the edge with the roof partly opened. You do need to block or support it to hold it partly open. I used a LARGE 14 inch "C" clamp and gently pressed the roof straight. See the attached...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fall Color Hwy 395

Planning a mid-week trip second or third week of October to the east side of the Sierra's. We are watching several websites to decide when to go. Did the trip in 2016, but not last year as we were in Switzerland. I find the eastern Sierra magical in the Fall. Do you have a favorite area you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cruise America renting truck campers.

Saw two of these going up to Yosemite. Not sure if they rent just the camper or the complete rig. A good way for someone to try a truck camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I am starting to really dislike my camper solar

Try again this time pushing the door in just a little and see how much the drag changes. If it becomes more difficult you need to adjust the door.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I am starting to really dislike my camper solar

Have you done the DOLLAR TEST on your fridge door? Mine was running too much and I found the door was not sealing. Put a dollar bill on the seal close the door and you should not be able to pull the dollar bill out without using some force. If it comes out easy you need to adjust the door...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside/Porch wiring (bypass main on/off switch)?

Main switch turns off power to fuse panel. Find the fuse that the light is on and put in a fuse circuit sperate from the fuse panel. Trick set up that some one did here is a three way switch.

Craig on your propane do you have a strong flame on your stove? If not might be time for a new regulator that is what I found on mine.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Questions

My 2002 Hawk had an IOTA without the IQ4, $25 to add the IQ4 plug into it. I have an IOTA with built-in IOTA that I added to my 2013 Hawk build. I only plug in the day before a trip when I have the DC fridge running. Camper is parked outside and the 250w of solar keep everything topped off. My...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Beginner solar questions

I had the Renogy system you showed. Only went with a 100w panel to start with a 120w portable. Worked but did not want to set up the portable all the time. I added a 150w to the roof, long enough that I only needed "Z" brackets to mount to the tracks. The 150w panel mounted this way may be the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sightings thread

Took a trip up the North Coast of CA to get away from the heat. Will try to get the TR up this weekend. Saw a total of 4 FWC's on the trip. Saw the one in the picture 3 times, in Mendocino where I took the picture and left them my card in the door window. Say them again driving out of Point...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC changes over the years?

2001, measure the tailgate area to be sure it fits. Some of the older Hawks were too wide for newer trucks. If going in a Chevy may need a notch.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I need to hear a good new joke

A man gets stopped by a game warden with his basket full of fish. Warden: do you have a permit for all these fish? Man: no sir. These are all my pet fish. Warden: your pet fish? How's that? Man: Well, every night I take all my pet fish for a walk to the lake, I let them swim for about half...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Use sealant when installing sink?

I used nothing. If you want to do the job like a plumber use plumbers putty never silicone. From a plumbing site. "Why Use Plumber's Putty. ... Plumbers use it because it remains soft for a long time and maintains a watertight seal, but unlike silicone and other types of caulk, plumber's...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Parallel to Series on roof top panels

My set up now, my third one. 150w and 100w in series on the roof. 120w portable has its own controller and wires to the battery. So far I have not needed to plug in the portable. As with others who learn as I go my system has evolved. First 120w solar in a bag. Worked to keep battery charged...
