RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West White River Plateau?

What area are you going in to? I used to do dispersed camping way back when in an old VW camper in the Deep Lake / Heart Lake area. It was really nice and lots of suitable areas to camp.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West White River Plateau?

Hi Brett, I've been to the Deep Lake and Heart Lake area outside of Dotsero, on the south side of the Flat Tops and I've gone into the Flat Tops from Trapper's Lake on the West. And on the north east from Yampa. Haven't been in the area in several years though and have been meaning to return...

Erod, Very nice. Both places I've worked in the last 20 years hace had locker rooms with showers so you could workout over lunch. I've always thought that if I had to rough it I could just come into work early and shower there. Best of luck to you guys...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West how much rear overhang is OK?

I know some of the guys have warned you about moving the CG too far back. I can only talk from experience. I haven’t had a shortbed camper. I’ve only had the longbed camper on a shortbed truck. From experience, I can tell you that in all types of conditions the camper hasn’t been a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Supporting the Grandby?

For the longevity of the floor pack it is a good idea to support it when off the truck. Mine came with a stand but I’ve seen guys use pallets and saw horses to support the floor when the ability to move it around isn’t a concern.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West how much rear overhang is OK?

I have a FWC Ranger which is 8ft long on a short bed Tundra with the tailgate down. I like having the extra room in the camper and haven't had a problem with clearance.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Member looking for help

Roberto, One solution to the table might be to have it movable so that it can be slid out of the way for that corner person to get in. Here is a picture to give you an idea. We had trailer with a U shaped sofa with a table in the middle and there was enough room to slide the table around to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Folding Steps

I'd like to add folding steps (I've seen them on other FWC's) to the rear to gain roof access. Any suggestions on drilling through the skin and into the insulation? How do the steps attach while screwing into the insulation? Did you use backing plates on the interior? thanx Take a look at this...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West new member with 85 Keystone

Stan...you mentioned the lady in Colorado as maybe having the "pop-up" fabric on the '85 Keystone replaced by "Hallmark". IF so...what fabric was used? Is it the "original" TAN fabric? Coop, Hallmark uses the grey fabric. http://www.hallmarkrv.com/controller/home?_load=default

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Repairing a tear in pop up material?

If there is no tension on it you may be able to repair it with waterproof seam sealer available from an outdoor store. I sent a tent in to a manufacturer to have a small tear in the floor repaired and that is what they did.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Other types of campers?

OK, here is another alternative. I found this article on Truck Camper Magazine. http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=242&Itemid=34 It is about the Coyote and Phoenix campers. They are an aluminum framed camper although they look to be slightly taller...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cleaning Cookware

We have the sink but hardly ever use it for doing dishes. We carry two plastic tubs that happen to be exactly the right size to nest and fit in the camper sink for storage. As soon as dinner is cooked we put a pot of water on. Then, when we are ready to do dishes we have hot water. We put...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grandby options

Hi Buzz, I like your truck and welcome to the forum... If I were looking at outfitting an older truck, I think I would check out used campers. There seems to be lots of older Grandbys out there available since they don't fit on as many newer trucks. There are a couple listed on the Denver...
