    Fall Color

Good timing, Bill! There's been good reports coming from Mono County, mentioning Lobdell Rd.

    Turnbuckle replacement size?

Jam nut is a good idea whichever way you go. We still have the aluminum FWC turnbuckles. Once I got a nylock wingnut on one side, they stopped loosening up on trips.

    New Tires Needed

Brand new set of Falken Wildpeak AT3 's on our 3500 and no noticeable tire noise with Hwy 80 with speeds at 70mph+ We did 400 miles of pavement on our trip. I like 'em.

RAM 2500, 6.7, Hawk Flatbed Camper

I ordered the 2021Tradesman 3500 hemi on March 9 with 4.10 gears, dual alternators, 8.4" U-connect, accessory switches (now have new fogs wired in!), upgraded interior trim and mats, Snow Chief group, bed liner, clear coat paint, etc. We got priced at $500 over invoice (yeah right!) and...

RAM 2500, 6.7, Hawk Flatbed Camper

Very clean setup. Top notch work! Vic raises a good question about height. If you didn't have the water tank / drawer what would your height be estimated to be? We're getting ready to remodel our garage door opening and I'm still considering going with a flatbed for our 2021 RAM 3500.

Black Rock Desert to High Rock Canyon, part I

Smoke, your history with this special place is very welcome here. Feel free to chime in with anything that comes up for you. We'll be visiting Steven's Camp in our next episode. Conlon Camp no longer has any structures, other than a fallen over outhouse out in the wet meadow where the road...

Black Rock Desert to High Rock Canyon, part I

Next episode Soldier Meadows to High Rock Canyon We drove north along the Soldier Meadows Road as a dust storm began to fill the playa with dust. We had been warned about crossing the playa further north at Wheeler Reservoir where the water crossing was described as "three feet deep"...

    Blown airbag

Been there, done that. A few years ago in DV we were driving up from Saline Valley to Steele Pass and ka-blooie! I popped one bag, due to reasons not relevant here. I amputated the blown bag and lowered the other side to 12 psi. We were able to get it done quickly and still got in our hike...

Black Rock Desert to High Rock Canyon, part I

After a summer of smokey conditions and forest closures we were ready to head out to the Nevada desert. There was no Burning Man this year, so why not head to Black Rock, Soldier Meadows and finally run High Rock Canyon? We booked four days and hatched a plan. I had researched this trip...

    Need more ceiling LED lighting

I'm concerned with the attachment from the fixture pigtail to the camper wiring. I could tie into my Blue Sea USB outlet and I'll need two separate wires and maybe a splitter. The e-Shine fixtures seem to come with a sheathed mono-cable to a power source/supply. I hope there's two wires in...

    Need more ceiling LED lighting

Thanks Vic I just want to add one strip to a shelf where I've set up a dual USB charging station. I'll need to figure out how to adapt from their wiring with 3.5DC connector at the fixture to tying into my camper wiring. Maybe some sort of piggyback spade splitter might work, but I'll need to...

Did you hardwire your lights, Vic? I'm wondering about what sort of power supply would work.

A Great Morning Arrives With Cinnamon Rolls

We're so impressed with Julie's baking expertise! It's been inspiring to see both of you continue the adventure, and to still be holding hands when you walk together. Next month we celebrate our 15th year as a couple and 11 years as fellow WTW travelers. ,

    Forests opening early

A friend has a cabin on private property in TNF, and was allowed to enter off Hwy 20 / Bowman Rd. Their friends came up later and were turned around at a checkpoint in Bear Valley, until they could have an escort. Good news to see the forests opening back up though.

    Affordable Cast Iron

If it's ceramic coated, I think you're alright. I would shy away from tradition raw cast iron from China, since who knows what they throw in the smelter. I've got a pretty full collection of Griswold pans from #3 to #9. We travel with the #6 pan in our camper, because it's exactly the size of...

PERSEID Meteor Shower on the Black Rock

Looks like a good group of folks who are willing to invest in keeping the area pristine. Nice people photos, including you too. What a great spot for an e-bike! We were thinking of visiting the playa in a week or so. I wonder if they got enough rain to make the "road" soft?

80's FWC what to look for before buying

I think it was Stan who said get inside the camper and sit there for a while. See if it's a good fit for you. Does it smell okay? How are the cushions, headliner, bed, floor? Do the appliances all work? Are there any manuals? Try every window, and see if the velcro is still functional...
