    ARGH!

the whole "sales model" is engineered to facilitate a sales guy making a buck for himself as well as his employer. the more he makes over dealer cost the bigger his paycheck. they could change the name from salesman to haggler...maybe that would make things clearer.

Best Full Size Truck For Ruff Country Travel (W/ A Pop Up Camper)

i wouldnt write off a short bed truck.....especially when its purpose is to carry a camper. long bed trucks have multiple compromises due to their wheelbase. turning radius, crest angle, etc. the shorter the better...for rough country work.

    Death Valley Camping

i have some really good advice: DV is really spread out. The driving time between locations is significant and easily underestimated. Road conditions are part of the equation but distance is truly a factor. Seeing one or two sights can consume a full day.....with a lot of that time being...

Hey! Want To Save Some Money

Silvertip, I don't mean to tell you how to set up your truck ... but I can tell you this, one time on a knarly off camper trail in the high country and you will wish you never but a 6" lift on your truck . marc i agree. it is tempting to try to make the truck more capable of dealing...

9 Million Acres At Stake In Utah!

I was kinda/sorta with em until i read this nonsense "This is just the latest step in a massive land grab being orchestrated nationwide by anti-access forces who are seeking to eliminate responsible off-highway riding on public lands by any means necessary," "Responsible"?? Have any of you...

    Emergency Communications? Ham Radio?

Unfortunately, if you look at the area around Antelope Lake, its really in a big valley surrounded by mountains on all sides, with no appreciable human settlements inside. Of course, if you can get on a peak its all moot, you can get a cell signal from every peak I've ever been on. I'm...

    Solar Voltage Variance

it is normal to see an intelligent charger vary the voltage. the cycle usually goes: the battery voltage is allowed to float, and it begins to drop to the lower threshold of appx 13.2 which when reached will trigger the charger to bring the voltage up to its upper threshold of 14.3 then its...

    Emergency Communications? Ham Radio?

One of the things that has slowed me down (other than general laziness) is the lack of repeaters in areas i frequent. I was really surprised to see a town the size of Susanville has no repeaters. One in Quincy (still need to see if its on a ridge overlooking the valley) and nothing further...

    Emergency Communications? Ham Radio?

you need to start hunting on the internet for repeaters in your area...simplex wont be that much use as you will find that its really hard to escape repeater coverage. its expected that one always scans the simplex calling freq just in case. if everyone did this is would help to ensure...

    Shell Camping

A built in heater, or maybe a portable? Why use the space for something that will not be used all the time. Also no need for such a large propane tank (if you had a AC/DC refrigerator). the propane used by a gas fridge is so minimal its as though it uses almost none.

i always thought that the biggest negative impact of the microsoft product line was that it ran on intel. i never liked multiplexed address bus components. motorola had way faster chips...going with intel really hosed motorola. oh well.
