Buy FWC, Quit Jobs, Drive to Argentina

Fellow Travelers, Your trip sounds great. My wife and I did this twice. Quit our jobs, sold house, and spent a YEAR on the road (above artic circle). We did it in a Landrover Distovery (and a tent) before we had our Eagle. A couple of recommendations: * Most of what you take, you won't...

    storage racks

HI, I did the same thing as you. I was also a long time tenter and didn't want to have a lot of amenities inside the camper when I bought my Eagle shell. I built the inside of my camper myself. BUT, I did build cabinets and put in a stove and sink. That's it. No refrigerator, no water...

Too bad I didn't look at this website a few days ago. I have had an ad on this website to sell my vent for several weeks now. I really didn't want anything for it, just wanted to not throw it away. Chris

Where can I find a clear lens for back light?

I recently bought a perfect replacement clear lens at Evergreen RV in Shoreline Washington. They had it right on the shelf and it only cost a few bucks. Evergreen RV 206-542-1183 or www.evergreensupply.com Chris

Camper is done. AT can holder install

Looks great. What was the bumper orginally designed for? Craig, The bumper I believe was for a full sized Jeep. I have a Nissan Frontier. The size was right, but the attachment brackets would not work so I had to build my own out of 3/16 steel. Chris

Camper is done. AT can holder install

Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing. I just finished creating box for my spare gas can (plus other stuff) also. Here's the photos. This is a swing-out bumper; meaning the top part of it swing out away from the camper door. The idea is that I can put spare gas can inside this box and lock...

Solar coming soon and a few questions

I would have to concur with DSRTRAT; not sure that you really need that fancy Morning star. I have been quite pleased with my $35 Morningstar controller (lower wattage cause I only have 85 watt panel) and a small analog volt meter. As for 10 guage wire. Recommend it also. Of course, the...

    cold weather

Welcome Yukon campers! My wife and I have done more Winter camping than Summer camping. We often camp in the snow. Probably the lowest temperatures we have done so far is about 8 degrees F in British Colombia. We made our own liner that velcro's on the top sides and provides nice extra...

    Solar Panel Install Example 2012

Thank you to all of the many people who posted Solar articles on this site. You helped me a lot in doing my project for my 2008 Eagle! In spirit of sharing, here’s my implementation in 2012. The panel is mounted under the camper bed (outside of course). I didn’t want to have to lift the...

You guys are depressing me! Only a little bit of Washington State this year. Or, maybe inspiring me to quit that corporate job and start living.

Am I a candidate for a shell model?

Hi, I bought a new Eagle Shell several years ago and I am very happy that I took that approach. There are several reasons: * I do woodwork, so I was able to do the cabinets, etc. * I don't care for being in a situation where I am dependend on 'power'. The whole idea with this kind of...

    Use That Surplus Furnace Heat

I recently saw a special device in a RV store to dry out wet boots etc. It was way to specialized of a tool to carry around in a small vehicle such as ours. Thinking that we had surplus heat that comes from our campers in the Winter...when our boots get wet from hiking in the snow, etc., I came...

    Custom Shell Interiors

NWCamper, I bought an Eagle shell new a couple of years ago. All that was inside was furnace & battery. The rest I built myself (cabinets, sink, stove, etc.). Pictures can be seen at my original posting: http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1260/page__fromsearch__1 I also...

LED interior lights vs incandescent and Fluorescent

Another bulb that I bought is made by "Star Lights Inc." It is a bayonette bulb and fits nicely in the FW Camper existing fixture. It is 200 lumen (brighter than the incandescents combined)and I paid $24.99. Bought it from an RV parts store in Seattle area called Evergreen RV. You can buy it...

    Soaked Roof Pack/Headliner!?!

I live in the Seattle area where it rains a LOT! My camper has not leaked at all thankgooddness. But, I did buy a de-humidifier and I put that inside the camper periodically to suck out the moisture in hopes of not getting a lot of mold and mildew.

    Urban Camping

Urbun camping indeed. Great stories. I camped in my Friends driveway this Christmas day (we stayed overnight) and just loved listening to the wind blow (friend lives on an Island in Washington's San Juan's). Also, when I came back from a big Alaska trip a couple of years ago we camped in a RV...

    Electrical problem

Based on what you just said about everything being 13 volts on your hand-held meter, and the camper meter saying "weak", I would be suspecting that there could be a problem with your camper meter. That thing might be out of calibration. Just an idea.

    Garage Door Opening

I have a 2008 Nissan Frontier with a 2008 Eagle. Height to top of air vent is 83.5 inches. BUT, I also have air bags. I measured this with some inflation in the bags which means that the truck bed was a little higher off the ground when I measured it. I like Pod's idea...add the camper...

Four Wheel Campers Review - Member Input

Strengths: I love the camper. It is very lightweight and thus I can travel down tough roads and not feel like I am in serious problems. I trust that welded frame. I can travel on the Washington ferries with paying extra due to the size. I get good gas mileage on my truck because it is...
