I believe this is the stove Overland Magazine rated the highest. I forget who is using the quote, but it goes something like quality lasts after sticker shock is over.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof lift assist

I bet if you just keep the door and window closed you will get a nice gentle lowering. I discovered I could hardly get it down with the door closed. Whatever system you decide to use try and figure out a way to use it to lower the roof as well. I carry a 60 pound kayak and also have solar and...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tires- again

Just an update- Also traded up to 275/70/18 from 275/65. These tires are 1.3" taller than the stock tire and I expected about .6" of lift from them. Instead the truck is a full 7/8" taller. I suppose the stiffer tire doesn't flex as much as the soft stock ones, giving it more practical height...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West LEDs Make the Big Time

I found LED puck lights at Sam's club that are motion activated with two light levels. If not motion for an hour, will turn them selfs off. Work great inside cabinets, will go off when you put your hand in there if you forgot you got them inside :D, will turn off if you forget to wave your hand...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Mod to get better MPG

Scan-Gauge does show voltage. you get to pick which four readouts you want on the screen at one time. I've found mine very useful. It's amazing the mileage difference if you can avoid having to stop or slow down very much. Really pays to try to time traffic lights if your not interrupting...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Suspension question

I'm carrying a Hawk on my Tundra. I started out with Roadmaster springs, and they seemed to help pretty well. But after a couple of years things started to get mushy again. Seems the springs were wearing out. Put in Firestone air bags and couldn't be happier. Hardest part was taking the old...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West How Many Nights in Your Camper

I recently calculated I got my money's worth out my Hawk this year, 36 nights:D This is a record for me as I've had just 4 nights in a year also.:( Thought it might be interesting to start a thread that see's how much folks are getting use out of there campers. Ohers?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Rear awning

I ran across a place in Eugene OR that sells used RV supplies. They had numerous used awnings for sale. I didn't consider them because they were too long. Little did I think about cutting them down. No matter what size they were though, they would have been hard to carry on airplane. If someone...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Why did you choose ATC over FWC

Ben, Are you guys still using the outside storm flaps for the windows? If so, do you see an advantage over the window system that FWC uses? The FWC system seems much easier to use. Thanks

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Rear steps and racks

I thought placement of steps from factory was not the best, until I started to use them. They work pretty well as is, think hard about what foot your starting with though, it may not be as obvious as you think. I also find that I use the stair nearest the open door as a handle more than I use...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West got a used fleet model

Your certainly not wasting any time. Looking forward to pics. I took the sink, stove, 3 way fride side and decided not to install back the fridge since I have an engle. Replace the panelling today and cover the vent for the fridge. Tommorow is carpet time and flooring. It's an 86 fleet

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Suspension air bags

Anyone with specific experience of airbags on a DC 2005 Tundra? Also, I went to the JC Whitney site and didn't see the sale price mentioned in the earlier post, they were still $184. Is a special sale code required? I plan on putting on an add-a-leaf spring in addition to a set of airbags...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Suspension air bags

In a previous thread I asked about the funky ride I get while traveling on certain concrete highways, but never on asphalt. Still have that probem. Would air bags correct this? Paul The only way you will change your ride over this concrete is to change the wheelbase of your vehicle. It's like...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Factory Lift

Saw this last weekend while visiting Sean at Go Anywhere in WI. Factory has come out with a lift assist. Hope this isn't old news, I didn't find it anywhere on the forum. The lift consists of mounts with a couple of struts that assist in lifting the roof. Amazing what a difference it makes...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tundra or Diesel

Looking for some thoughts on this. I currently have a 04 Tundra DC. I want to get a 4x4 to use for some more serious exploration with my FWC Hawk on the back. Occasionally when I go I will flat tow my Jeep or tow my sailboat (about 2500 lb's, wind resistance closer to a barn door). Most of the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West For Those Running Air Bags

My airbags arrived in the mail yesterday, can't wait to get installed, then mount camper. Rear end has been sagging 3 1/2 inches with Hawk camper over empty, that with roadmaster helper springs. Don't think sag used to be that much. Could be springs are loosing their spring at 80k miles.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West White Rim Trail with 2WD?

I've been contemplating this same thing. Best argument for 4x4 where 2x might go is that you don't need to have as much momentum with 4x4 and therefore are easier on the vehicle. Very important point, if you already have a 2x4, the switch to a 4x4 will be minimum thousands of dollars. To...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West First time out (loves and hates)

I've been thinking about the same thing with my couch back. Just figured out today how to compensate for taking the back out, but I'm also going to take out the cushions. I'm going to replace them with a cushion/seat. They lie flat or you bend them up to have a seat with backrest. I just have...
