RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Top blowing up in wind and water tank!

Are you traveling with the front, upper vent window open?....or any windows open for that? it has been known to create positive pressure enough to lift the top beyond the pirelli seal at which time the pressure is lost and it stabilizes.... sometimes a lack of pirelli seal will cause the same...

Do you close the pump valve after you drop the roof? Hi Wooddog, yes I close the valve, but it still comes up, which is why I was thinking maybe I did not have enough hydraulic fluid, maybe it was not completely a closed loop, if that even makes sense? ?? Oz

Two things. First, what’s up with this and what should I do!? I was going across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge during a spring wind storm when the top of my 8' Cab Over blew up about 5 inches in the front! I pulled over and it rested back down to normal. I then took off on the highway and made...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West another lurker coming out of the closet

How dumb on my part. Of course it is a CO (carbon monoxide) detector, not a CO2 (carbon dioxide) detector! As to removing the closet and refrigerator cabinet was the best thing for my needs and I have never regretted it. It is much more flexible as to storage and movement inside the camper...

Finally got around to adding aluminum sides. It's not pretty and it still has a little bit of carpet showing, but its better than original! It will help keep out the driving rain. Pics attached!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Alaskan Hydraulic O - Ring Replacement

Below are pictures of my hydraulic O-Ring replacement. I did not place a 2” x 2” brace to support the corner of the camper. Instead, since I had the camper off the truck because I was doing a reseal job, I cheated and used a jack on the exterior. One issue I ran into is I had to remove the...

JD...the door handle fits behind the bracket to hold the door open.... Don't let your door fly open in a wind....it will clip the bottom of that bracket off...and guess what??? They don't make them anymore, you've heard of the proverbial hens teeth  I just found a replacement for...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Perili Added to Cab Over of an Alaskan

Thanks all and yes Mike S, I would love to see pics. I guess after some thought I could just screw in some lapping aluminum to the front sides and then rubber seal the edge of the side panels that fold up against it. I am wondering how it will fold down however? I think this is what I will...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Perili Added to Cab Over of an Alaskan

Thanks for the gut check Mike! Based on your advice I can now say the carpet is gone, at least the exposed portions. I left the rest of the carpet behind the Perilli for insulation as shown in the attached pictures. Tonight I replaced my back Perilli and then studied the cab over area again...

Hi all, I am not sure if I should add this to my old topic of "My newly purchased 1971 Alaskan Camper" or start a new topic, I hope I chose wisely? I plan on adding more of the progress I make on my old Alaskan in the future, so moderators.... provide me direction! My 1971 Alaskan Camper did...

The original seal needs to be replaced. I understand the new stuff is Perelli. It looks like the original was made from cloth material. Does anyone know what this bracket(see picture) is for. It's located in the rear, near the tailgate. Also, its a tight squeeze getting the truck in the garage...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Exterior Lights

I bought the new teardrop lights. They are a good replacement, until I find the correct Reflecto-Lites. I also found a lens for the porch light. The lens has a lip in the inside, that I ended up cutting out with a utility knife. It did go on without doing this, but you could see the edges of the...

Nice interior Oz....Aluminum still looks bright.... same color as mine.....ash wood and yellow, original vinyl too... is there a patch on the skin above that leak on the drivers side....the discoloration is about a foot or so inboard of the edge Rusty, it might just be the picture. No patch...
