RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Sold My FWC

Thanks to the help of www.usedfourwheelcampers.com I delivered my FWC to its new owner last week. It was kind of sad to see her go but I learned a lot with it and definately looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks to all of you for your help and support. This board and its members is a...

Goof Off is also an excellent adhesive remover, but you have to use it with caution.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Coast to Coast - 3 Weeks on the road from VA to CA

I used some nylon strapping material and self tapping screws/washers and mounted a battery charger in that little space. I wish I'd taken some pictures before I pulled it and the porta-potti out of it. I put the porta potti in the floor against the front and put 2 eye-bolts in the floor with a...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Coast to Coast - 3 Weeks on the road from VA to CA

Congrats on the new ranger II, erod, hope you like it. I saw a handful of other FWC's on my trip. I never got to meet any other owners face to face but it was cool to see them on the road. I even saw one setup on a late 80's Chevrolet Full size near Denver for $4500. I was tempted to fly back...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Commuting

I just returned from an 8000 mile trek with my FWC on my truck. I took a huge hit on gas mileage when traveling into the wind. I went from getting 18-22mpg combined to 13-16mpg. I did fare a bit better coming back east with a bit of a tail wind but my average was still in the 15-16mpg range...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Option Regrets?

The one thing I liked about the front slider was that it still allowed a little ventilation even when it was raining.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Air Bags vs. Helper Springs

Went with the air-lift kit and installed them earlier in the week. Pretty simple installation. I ran the schrader valves out through the bottom two holes of the license plate, pretty covert. Guess we'll see how they do when I put the camper back on monday. Thanks for all the help guys!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Another Newbie with a FWC Eagle

I decided to go with the air-lift setup per everyone's recommendations. I don't intend to keep the camper very long, but I figured that it was more than worth the extra considering that the truck will be used for hauling moderate loads from time to time. The installation was pretty simple. Its...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West new shop pics

Ben, congrats on the new shop, looks like a good sized facility. Moving into a new shop is always a great and rewarding experience, hope it fits you well and helps you continue to expand. One question. Do ya'll make the frames yourself or do you farm that out to another company?

Just wondering for you guys with half ton and smaller trucks, what setup do you run for load-compensating? I test-fitted the camper in my taco this weekend and she's definately going to need a boost.

Thanks all, did a test fit on the taco today prior to storing the camper. I will need a sub-structure, I put a cross-lacing of 2x4's under it to see what I was looking at and about 2.5-3" looks to be ideal. The camper fits perfectly length and width-wise. The one thing that really sucks is one...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Batteries

Just wondering what auxilary battery setups ya'll are running? I'd rather have the camper power attatched to a different circuit and just trickle charge it when there's shore power available, but not sure where to put a second battery. There's not really adequate space under the hood, and...

Thanks NCF, I haven't tested it yet, the tie-downs are supposed to come in tomorrow so I'll fit it up tomorrow night. I pulled the drain off before I loaded it in dad's truck, so no worries there, but I'll keep a close eye on the spacing, may have to weld up a little platform to go under it...

I'm beginning to wonder if it was a 98 that was refurb'd and purchased in 2003. The canvas and the interior is immacculate. I'll test-fit it tonight and let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the help guys

Wow, good call, you really know you're stuff. I was intrigued enough to go out and check and sure enought the sticker says it was manufactured in 98. To be honest I never even noticed the light panel until we loaded it up tonight. I'm slightly miffed, I don't know if it was an honest mistake on...

Well, the Eagle has landed, so to speak. I borrowed dad's F250 and went today to pickup the camper. Don't have the front tie-downs sorted out yet for the taco, so I took the alternate. The lady I bought it from had switched from a Ford Ranger to a ext cab 2500 dodge, so she had extensions made...

Thanks ya'll. I've been soaking up as much info on these things as I can in the last couple days. This site, Ben's site, and the FWC site have been great. I've been following alex's thread on ExPo, It seems like a good solution, not sure how I feel about the external tie-down in the front...
