There is a toe-grabbing, ankle-twisting, leg-breaking, license plate-bending gap between my bumper and where the tailgate used to be. Has anyone made or found something that can be stepped on to fill the gap? Thanks, Dave

I'll try the 2x4s for spacers and see how it goes. If there is lots of clearance while wracking the frame, I will try something thinner. Did I mention that I was jazzed? It only took me 30 years to finally get a pop-up off road camper.

I was looking at both, but a used ATC Puma that kinda-sorta-mostly fits my truck came up and I just had to jump on it. I am sure I would have been happy with either.

My gas mileage actually improved a tiny bit after mounting it in that low position. Raising it will open the gap and increase frontal area. I guess it is all trial and error now. I just hope the error part is not too expensive. :D

There may be less than an inch between the camper and the cab. The camper needs to be raised before doing any off-roading. The tight fit may be doing wonders for wind resistance.

I noticed that. I am planning on setting the camper on some 1" or 1.5" spacers. Maybe shove some kind of air bag between the cab and camper?

This morning I drove 100 miles in my unloaded gas powered F-250 to pick up my ATC Puma. The computer said I was averaging 11.1 MPG. On the return 100 mile drive I got 11.2 MPG. Even with the added weight and flooring it on on the uphills it got slightly better mileage. Magic?
