RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Revisiting Electrical Questions!

I use one of these: http://yandina.com/c100Info.htm. It's been great. I have shorepower in the camper, with a charger and an AGM battery. I also have a solar panel and charge controller connected to it. Whichever battery bank gets a charge (truck/camper), the combiner will parallel the banks.

Me to. I have done a layout drawing. I am intrigued by your ideas (camper beds, IKEA cabinet) and you obviously have fab experience. Would you be willing to share your drawing?

Cabezon, I've thought of a bunk, and it does make sense. One thing I want to explore is how to anchor it. Ideally, two points on the wall and two on the roof would make sense - definitely something to think about and investigate, thanks for the input. How did you anchor the bunk on your old...

How would you recommend putting the panels back on - rivets again? Sounds like there are voids in the frame where appliances can fit. Does anyone have pictures of a bare frame for a Keystone by any chance? Yes, I do have an aluminum spool gun, and an Argon cylinder. However, I want to stay away...

Fellow Camper DIYrs :) How difficult is it to install things into the side of the camper shell? Like, for example, external showers, compartments with doors, and the like? I want to stay away from cutting in the frame members and re-welding, etc, though I do have a MIG welder. So, what's the...

Stan, I'll be in touch, thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, the only things I'm looking for from FWC are the ones in my original post that you listed in your last reply. The sketch is of what I am going to do myself. I am comfortable with doing all the interior stuff, but I'm less happy...

Winter - thanks for the comments. Yes, you understand me correctly, and I have thought about the same issue, but have not been able to come up with a better answer. I just don't see a way to squeeze two full length beds along the sides and have enough room left for the appliances and bathroom...

DLN, thanks for the input. You're right about the table, and that's exactly what I had in mind. It's in the diagram as a placeholder, no precise measurements yet.

I used Microsoft Visio to draw the diagram, saved it to a jpg file. From there I posted it like any other picture.

I love the space ... Yes, my son and I went to Riverside to see the campers there. They had "one of each" :D Unfortunately the shell on display was a 6.5 foot bed model, but I was quite surprised by the space on both the Keystone and the Granby. I expected to feel like a sardine in a can...

Ben, what you say makes perfect sense - why do so few people understand it? "Common sense isn't common" Here are some pictures of my rig as currently set up. That's a Callen Camper, made here in San Diego. It's a minimal one, they are made with a steel frame, and very strong. However, they...

Ben, thank you for your honest and helpful reply. You are right - I need a bigger camper. There are four of us (kids are 19 and 21) and we have Toby, our chocolate lab to consider as well. That's why I want to build up the interior myself. I can do without some of the amenities, but sleeping...

I headed for home about 10:30 and just after I crossed into AZ I decided to try the Norcold. I put it on DC and by the time I got home (3 hours or so) it was about 80 degrees in there. Ambient tem was 105 but it doesnt inspire great confidence. Les has a Engel 2way and swears by it. So do a...

Hello all, I have pretty much decided to get a FWC Keystone shell model and build it up myself. There are a few things, however that I would like FWC to do for me: 1. Toilet install. 2. Propane tank install. 3. Furnace 4. Hot Water/Shower (I guess that means a water tank and plumbing). I...
