RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Upgraded Appliances

I have a 2008 Hawk with the older style stove and sink. My concerns about the flush mounted upgrades are that the sink may be smaller, haven't compared side by side, and the older stove has "wings" that enclose the stove and stop much of the spray or splatter of cooking food from getting all...

Wow, that looks really cool! Nice set-up. Stan, any idea of the final weight of that rig? Looks like it might be a bit heavy when loaded and full of water!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Camping Spot Bolinas, CA Area?

There is a very nice campground in Olema, just down the road from Pt. Reyes Station. It's closer to the National Seashore, and is more open and sunny than Samuel P. Taylor Park. The campground is just north of Olema on Hwy 1, on the left side of the Hwy.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New FWC interior

Good attempt at something new, but I don't think it works well at all. If you have a child or a person sleeping below, you can't easily get down from the upper bed without risking stepping on them or waking them up. Also, with the dinette set up, you lose the windows and the interior would be...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tacoma+FWC+dirt bike?

I had a T100 with a Hawk and mounted a Kawasaki 250 on a hitch mounted rack. I only did this once and I was way over the GVWR. With a Tacoma I would not recommend this setup...too much weight on too small a truck. The only way it might work is if you had just the shell model and really went...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Hawk on a Tundra

Thanks again to all for the great insights! As always, very helpful and informative. I'll live with the truck for now, try to count every ounce, and look to get a 1 ton in a few years. Maybe Toyota will have one by then...but I'm not holding my breath.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Hawk on a Tundra

I just weighed my truck...again...and unloaded and dry I'm at my 2006 Tundra DC's GVWR of 6600 lbs. What this means is that...besides obsessing about a new 1 Ton truck...whick I don't want to spend $50k (at least) on...when I am fully loaded I am running 600 - 800 lbs over the GVWR of my truck...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tire Rating Help

How stiff is the ride with "E" rated. My old "D" rated's were pretty stiff, but they were also on a T100 and not a newer Tundra.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tire Rating Help

Thanks for all the great input. I think I'm quickly becoming convinced to upgrade from "C" to "E"...especially if even going from "D" to "E" makes a big difference.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tire Rating Help

At this risk of bring up a topic that may have been discussed at length, I could really use some tire advice. I have a new-to-me 2006 Toyota Tundra DC with a FWC Hawk. I am currently running BFG AT "C" rated tires on stock 17 inch rims. I wanted to go with "D" rated tires, but they don't make...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My Hawk weighs...

I was also pretty surprised when I weighed my Hawk. It was over #1500 lbs dry without water. The sticker does say 740# without options, but with full water tank and full propane. When I added the published weight of each option (and I have almost every option except solar) to the 740# weight...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Faucet Upgrade

This is a cheap option to a new faucet and works great. I was having the same problem with the origingal faucet being too close to the edge of the sink and spraying water all over the counter top. You can get it at Bed Bath & Beyond and it's about $13.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 2006 Toyota Tundra Traction Control

Here are more specifics. I was in two wheel drive, the tires are at about 47 lbs and the sway bar is in the middle of the three available positions...figured that was a neutral place to start. I was going about 35-45 entering the turns on a paved, and I think mostly dry road. At the apex of each...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 2006 Toyota Tundra Traction Control

I am hoping that those of you with 2006 (or earlier) Toyota Tundra Double Cab, 4X4 can help me out. I took my new (to me) truck on it's first long trip last weekend and had a strange experience with the traction control (VSC) system. On about 4 or 5 tight right turns the traction control system...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My thoughts on Overland Journals FWC article

After having all of my pots, pans, etc...end up on the floor several times, I added these latches. They are only about $5 and have solved the problem. This would be a very easy fix for FWC to make as the latches they include are completely ineffective.
