Ditto Dog's comment - you can't use an upright tank on its side. Do you have a pic of the side that has the propane locker? I just can't believe that a Grandby that old has anything other than a locker for the vertical 20 lb. propane canister. :huh: Stan - any ideas???

stone - I have an 82 Grandby and a 20 lb. tank (I assume that's 'standard size') fits (very tightly) in the propane cabinet on the left side rear of the camper. Yours should be very similar. I'm in Montana also - Helena - where are you at?

I just did this job (front and back) on my '82 Grandby. It's not that hard to do. Just drill out the rivets (I used a 9/64 bit) and replaced with 5/32 rivets. Getting the upper spring flexed is the hardest part - that thing is under a LOT of tension and you have to flex it down to rivet it...

Well the job is done (front and back)!! We fabricated the boards from 5.2mm cedar ply. It really wasn't that bad, mostly just awkward. The hardest part is flexing down the upper hinge and getting it riveted into place. We had to *tweak* the sizing just a little due to fabric issues, but the...

Finally started on the pop up replacement boards for my '82 Grandby/Eagle (Greagle?? It's a Grandby size but marked as an Eagle). Getting the old boards out was easy. Now time for fabrication/installation, which I think is going to be a LOT more difficult. Here's some pics of the old rotten...

I don't know if this is exactly what you're asking but I have a '82 FWC that is exactly like a Grandby but is marked as an Eagle! Stan thought THAT was strange.
