RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Here are some slides from our trip on the Ruta Maya

Great pictures and adventure! I had a strange feeling looking at these pictures as hurricane Dean was slamming through that area. I only did a one-day trip to Tikal (in Guatemala) and I hope the entire area with all that history is not damaged. I find Mayan history very interesting. Mike

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 30A fuse blowing (truck to camper circuit)

A 40 to 50 amp circuit breaker might be better than the fuse as it will reset it's self. First make sure the wire can carry a "40 to 50 amp circuit breaker"! I sure do not want to read a post about a fire! Be careful, Mike

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Wheel Eagle vs Northstar MC600

i took a quilted bed spread (king size) cut it up to cover walls from top to bottom and long enough to tuck behind end panels, sewed matching velcro to pieces, easy to mount works great, problem solved and cheap! Hmm, I will have to check with Ben to see if my future ATC Cougar will come with that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Wheel Eagle vs Northstar MC600

We are ordering some oversize drapes for the FWC which should make the camper a bit warmer and should result in the furnace running less. Sorry to bring up this old post. What do you mean by "oversize drapes"... size? thickness? Can you please provide some more details as I am tweaking my...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lifting the top of the FWC

I just bought one. It works perfect for my Gramby. I thought I would need an extension for the ratchet for extra leverage, but worked fine. I'm recovering from neck cancer with litte strenth in my right arm. Thanks for the tip, now I don't have to trouble strangers to help me lift! Speaking...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ready to Order Cougar

You may want to consider a solar panel. It adds a little weight to the roof but nothing unmanageable. I have found lifting the roof takes practice and good technique(sp?). Yup, I also ask Ben to go ahead and run the wire for a future solar panel ($100). I miss having a luggage rack. I would...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stealth Camping, need two fans?

I have A FWC so I can't speak for ATC, but my fan is in the rear vent. I've found that if I need air on me when I'm in the upper bunk I can open the front vent and pull air in with the rear vent fan. Also I like having the fan closer to the stove to use as a exhaust fan. Another plus with...

I have the drivers side window and like it. I like to lie accross the front couch and look out the drivers side window, also I feel safer being able to keep an eye out the drivers side when stealth camping in less than desirable areas (Wal-Mart parking lots) Thanks for that info! I like the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Dolly

Definately overkill- could have used fewer boards to support the weight, maybe even 2x4s. Damn thing is really heavy. Probably a few hundred lbs on its own. At least it is solid- no need to worry about it holding the weight/stress. Holy crap... hope you do not get a job building ATC campers...

Flinchlock (aka Mike) So, what do you think of the new Tundy? Like it a lot! Monday it goes in for Line-X and side tubes. 1st tankful was about 18.5 mpg, and the 2nd tank was 19.4 mpg! :D :D Mike P.S. I am planning on going to my local lumber yard and asking them to put 7 squares of 190#...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stealth Camping, need two fans?

The ATC Cougar I have on order, I added an extra powered vent over the bed. :D  If I am stealth camping (camper closed), I assume the extra vented fan over the bed, will not be useable, because it would be covered, on top of the covers. Anyone have both vents powered? Help when stealth...

Just speculating. That is OK. FYI, I found this info at http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tundra-towing-hauling/8824-towing-4-7-a.html With my old 02 with the 4.7 I towed a my car trailer and race car, about 5000 pounds combined and just turned the overdrive off when doing so. I had no...

The 4.7L V8 version of the new Tundra is the same engine in my Landcruiser, which actually weighs a little less unloaded. I can tell you that is underpowered for hauling; even barely adequate for empty. The 06 and earlier tundra's weighed a lot less empty, so it was probably adequate. I have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tundra Reg Cab with Cougar "extended bed"

THANKS, for the pictures!! The new Tundra trucks have a big cab... RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West electrical question

I know this is an old post... My wife is a high school science teacher and she brought home a What's Up? power meter for me to mess with over the summer. This would be a fairly cheap way for a business to make sure they don't do a costly mistake. For "only" about $96, you can have the...
