RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The latest improvement on the Four Wheel Pop-up Campers is ...

My key to happiness with a purchase: Once you've bought it, stop shopping -- don't even look! :D Yeah, I made the mistake of checking out the newest Alaskan campers. Lordy those are sweet campers. I'll "upgrade" to one of those some day, maybe like when I win the lotto and can buy a 1 ton truck...

Let's see an inside picture when the camper is outside in natural light. That's how most of us experience the vinyl fabric most of the time.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Late August 2012

Lava Beds too damn hot in August I reckon. Unless you spend most of the day in the caves. Stick to the coast. How about Mattole Beach?

More great info Mike! It looks like I might be able to sneak away for a slightly longer time. I found a cheap-ish flight from Port Hardy back to Portland for the wife. We'll take two weeks on Vancouver Island together and two weeks without her for the return trip via Bella Coola and Hwy 20.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Discovery Circle

http://g.co/maps/9dykq Any opinions and experiences to share? Hardened road warrior daughter and I are planning this trip for late August from Portland OR, inside passage ferry ride, catch the salmon runs in Ts'yl-Os, meet some caribou, climbing a bit in Squamish on the way home. I'm looking...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Incident at Battle Creek!

These things are always expensive until you really need them. Yes, a hi-lift with the winching kit is cheaper than a power winch. I think I'll stop procrastinating and pick one up before too long. One thing I always think about when in the boonies is that if I do get stuck, at least I have a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Klamath-Sheldon-Black Rock in Feb?

Thanks so much for doing my homework for me Mark. I won't be leaving for a couple months, but it's the next trip on the schedule so I'm planning now. I have the Benchmark atlas for Oregon. Is there a similar "best" atlas/map for Nevada or just the Delorme Gazeteer? Am I right that the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Klamath-Sheldon-Black Rock in Feb?

I'm heading down to Bishop again this winter with hardened road warrior daughter and thinking about going via Black Rock. Will the overland "roads" that WtWers take to get there from Oregon be open at that time of year?

See "Day 2" from this TR I did last Jan/Feb. We stayed at the Lava Beds, it was great. http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4387/page__p__47727__fromsearch__1&#entry47727

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Temporary Camper Shuttling

If you can avoid highway speeds it may be faster just to drive slower and skip all the rigging. I drive mine about a two miles on 25mph roads shuttling between my house and friend's extremely large driveway without tying it down in any way whatsoever. Just lower it into the bed, retract the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Low Cost Mods

Eye bolts & small bungees to secure back of couch. Allows things to be packed tightly behind the couch and not "explode" when bouncing down dirt roads. Idea from Chnlisle's old Ranger sold to TT... Oh that's so good. I always stuff tons behind the couch back and invariably it explodes at a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shower in a FWC?

Has anyone modded a Zodi to use built-in 6-volts (stepping down from 12) to avoid D batteries? Or using the built-in stovetop instead of the burner and propane canisters?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used FWC camper alert

I woulda thunk a slidey-drawer for your fridge was a no-brainer rather than a flippy lid counter. And why not increase counter height to the same as the fridge counter for increased under counter storage? I'm planning to do that and want to make sure I'm not missing anything. With your smev...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dismounted Height of Hawk?

Don't ask what the lowest possible height of the camper is, ask what the minimum height to clear your garage is. It's a PIA to raise the whole thing way up and down. So build your platform low enough to clear your garage door, no lower. For example, I set up my camper on gigantic sawhorses and...
