RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fridge Causes Voltage Drop?

I could easily make a trim panel, but I was looking on-line at the Victron, and it appears the wires attach to the front of the panel-this would be a real eyesore inside the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fridge Causes Voltage Drop?

Does anyone know a better alternative to the Zamp that will mount in the same opening? I'm convinced my batteries are being overcharged-I can hear them gurgling and my propane/CO detector continues to randomly go off in the middle of the day when the panel is getting the most sun.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West rubber trim molding

Mine did the same thing a few days ago driving through Green River in strong headwinds. I'm going to tack it in with a little silicon adhesive.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got Weighed-Yikes!

Yeah, I have a diesel with a winch, and Aluminess rear bumper with swing-arms (storage box, bike rack tire carrier). I also have dual batteries, solar and a Yakima cargo basket on the top. I'm kicking myself for not getting individual axle weights-I may need to go back to the scale.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got Weighed-Yikes!

After several years of carrying my 2015 Hawk full time on my 2005 F250, I just had it weighed. With the camper fully stocked (dishes, bedding, etc) about 1/4 tank of fuel, no water, full propane and me inside, it came in at a hefty 10,080 pounds. I was expecting about 500 lbs less. So with the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Alarm

I suspect my Zamp controller is possibly overcharging my dual 6v's because it will indicate 3/4 charge when the Victron monitor says 100%. Eventually it switches to "full" during the day but I think it's staying on absorption charge too long. Usually, but not always, this is when the alarm...

That would explain why it looks and functions exactly the same as the old one!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Alarm

Any suggestions on how to better vent the batteries, or isolate the alarm, since it is mounted in the battery cabinet? I'm curious if other people having this issue also have the front dinette model.... I could move the alarm but don't want to cut a big hole in another cabinet only to still have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Alarm

I've been having the same issues with false alarms, and today I installed the "updated" model (31012). Several hours later it started beeping! Not sure what to do- It's indicating CO, but sometimes the old one would indicate propane. I'm starting to think it might be my batteries venting (even...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rookie tire and rear suspension questions

I've gone through many sets of tires on my 2005 F250, including BFG AT, Cooper AT, and Toyo MT and AT. Easily the best overall tires are my current set of Wranglers. Best combination of wear, off road traction and highway comfort. I'm at 10,000 miles and the wear is a little over 1/4 down. My...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My Porta Potti Solution

Looks good, but I'm still in favor of the folding toilet seat (not the bucket) and double seal bag method. It takes up almost no room and can still be used inside the camper if going outside is not an option. The bags are not cheap but it sure beats dumping out a smelly porta potty. I have a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Front Dinette or Side Dinette?

I would have gone with the side dinette over the front dinette (mostly for the window view while seated) but I wanted the full length extra bed, which I frequently use. Also you get more cabinet storage with the front dinette. However, my wife does have issues with the tall counter heights and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

An update if anyone is curios-just returned from a 7 day trip to the desert (Anza Borrego and Joshua Tree), and had the fridge running a lot, even at night (it was hot). According to the monitor, the lowest the batteries got was 89% capacity. I think I'm good for now without an extra solar panel.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West We've got our new Grandby!

Congrats on the new truck and camper. I really love the big front dinette with the Grandby-that will be my next set-up when my current truck kicks the bucket. It would be nice when camping with others to fit 4 people comfortably inside. I like having a nice hot shower (outdoor) after a day...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

Good info-thanks. I've got a lot to learn about using the Victron. If the smart phone app interface is a lot easier to use than the printed manual and buttons on the panel, I will order the Bluetooth dongle. Do you know if the solar output goes through the Iota or is it wired in parallel to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

Thanks to a Sunday Amazon delivery (!) I got my Victron battery monitor installed.Easy to install but the user manual is quite complicated. It confirmed what I suspected which is that the batteries are fully charged. While routing wires, I found the Iota with built in IQ4. For anyone wanting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

OK, this is weird! I did the test that camper rich suggested (disconnecting batteries and measuring shore power voltage). The shore power voltage was 14.8V. When i unplugged the shore power and reconnected the batteries the Zamp display indicated full! Maybe it just had to reset or...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

I ordered the same one you have (702)-don't really need the Bluetooth (but can add later). I am the original owner-camper is a 2015 Hawk front dinette. My concern now is that if the Zamp thinks the batteries aren't charged and they are, it won't go into float mode and my batteries get...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

To be honest, I'm not sure which charger (IOTA?) I have. Would this be visible somewhere in the cabinetry? I have no owner manuals for this component. This morning I went out to check the system and the Zamp is reading 14V, and is still on 3/4 full indicator. I just ordered a Victron monitor...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

Good idea camper rich-I will test this today to see if the converter is supplying voltage to the batteries. The fridge (and everything else except the propane/CO alarm) is off so that shouldn't draw any current. I do have a tree blocking late PM sun but it gets at least 8 hours of sun where it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

Thanks for your input Craig. I am using the Zamp 30a controller that came with my 2015 Hawk. It's not programmable other than being able to select the type of batteries, which I correctly have set at AGM. The batteries are Amstron AGM's. What I meant by the inverter is the 120V shore power...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Batteries Won't Fully Charge

Hi Folks, As mentioned in a couple of recent posts, I added a small 12v, 2-way fridge and upgraded from a single 12V battery to a dual 6V system. My amp-hour capacity went from 75 to 210. Now my 160w solar charger never gets to float mode (where it says batteries "full"). There are 4 battery...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Time to Ditch the Icebox

I installed the Norcold fridge today. The only time consuming step was fabricating a trim piece (plywood) because the cabinet opening for the icebox was wider than the fridge by a couple of inches. I also installed dual 6v batteries to replace the single 12v. I'm curious to see what happens...
