RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Meteorological Winter

Sun was out here this am , it was grand to see, according to local reports, perhaps clear for the day, nope more clouds rolled in around 2pm with some rare thunder & rain looks to be headed towards Reno from the southwest typical daily routine. Now the norm. It's going to be a wonderful year...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Handguns traveling in CA stored in FWC?

I would be very interested in what type of vaults people feel comfortable with. I like the console box and price isn't the reason to disallow, if someone were to break in, I'm not convinced a crowbar wouldn't breach the access. And destroy the interior, I don't really know. Does anyone know of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West E rated tires and air pressure?

Since I'm not sure what my total weight will be, I used max payload of 1400 lbs, no doubt close. BF Goodrich recommended based on there newest KO2 in size 275/70R18. One size taller than the OEM Good Year Wranglers... door stickered at 35 psi f/r. 50 lbs front 50 lbs rear unloaded...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone airbags and daystar cradles?

Squatch, thank you for the scientific approach, pictures and sound methodology. helped me. I did a lot of web surfing shortly after Airlift support told me max 4 inches of abrupt suspension travel or death to bags. I found a long thread from 09 to mid 2016 on a Tundra sight somewhere on earth...

Thank you for the 6000 mile test report. that is good enough for me. I have the Ultimate 5000 Airlift, they just showed up a week ago, i will u turn them, and the wireless compressor thing. Firestones, FS-2525 for the F150, Daystar cradles on there way as soon as the Airlifts are gone. mostly...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Suspension on F150

Another F150 here, I will be installing Firestone ride rites with the Daystar cradles, then just take it easy(er) off road. What concerned me was is the limited travel with air bags, just seems like so little. Bilstein 5100's and E rated tires. Deaver springs if it doesn't feel right. I guess...

This is Airlifts recommend fix. Or similar. Opinions ? Seems to take the "all terrain" right out of the pop up. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Suspension/Limiting-Strap.aspx?t_c=1&t_s=101&t_pt=4145

Pulling the thread inserts doesn't sound good. I just received a set of AirLift bags ( Ultimate 5000 w/ internal jounce) for my '14 F150 4wd. I called AirLift to ask about this , simply how much is the suspension travel limited to with the use of those bags, he said my truck generally has about...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar suitcase exterior plug-in location. .?

Good to know, once the camper is home I can start using and personalizing it . I wonder if the shower tube could be attached similar to the awning . I need to ask what gauge wire they will use and do some calculations. Thanks so much for your input. Rock.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Portable Compressor recommendations

^^ Ok, doesn't take much to convince me on the merits of quality vs quantity . some budget constraints aside for now. If I remember, you are piloting an F350, pretty new. This is with Fords taller box such as my F150 correct ? is there enough room to store a small compressor in one of the tie...

Lots off good stuff in your build thread, the shower tube, now that's another great thought. At this stage just temporarily adding a supplemental panel for intermittent sunny days or parking in the shade and setting aux panels in the sun.. I keep seeing concerns over small guage wire to...

Good idea and probably a candidate for the cheap mods thread, and laptop chargers are a buck or two in the thrift stores.

I like the larger conductors, can't hurt. So you plug your suitcase solar panel(s) into this and they then become an added source for battery charging ? I don't know the wiring sequence for a system that has roof mount permanet solar, plug in solar, two AGM batteries and a 110 volt shore power ...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED light conversion

I might chime in here and add that LED fixtures most likely have different reflectors that would betters disperse the light they put out. It is certainly the case for automotive lamps. Superbright LED's make little if any difference in usable light in a reflector designed for halogen lamps.

Not sure about the reverse polarity issue, wouldn't think so, but I know little at this point. When I asked Jeff he asked where do you want it. He didn't ask what I was plugging in. I just though whatever he installed, there would be a matching unit. Probably Renolgy product, but I'll check...

That rock fascinates me, thanks for the info, I think I will include a visit to see it live for my inaugural ATC California loop. Even if it's a ten minute pause. Can one still drive near it ? It split in 2000. Someone must have said " let's call it Giant Rock." I guess that's better than...

That is the one I had in mind, nice to know it does the job. I saw your picture while browsing about and now I can make out where it plugs in. Is there a universal receptacle sold with the kit ? Or do suppliers use there own proprietary version.? Thanks.

That's excellent, I have 3 battery tenders already in use in the garage and it never occurred to me there usefulness for battery maintenance while at home. And the closer to the batteries makes perfect sense. Very good thank you.

I have in my mind what I think I will want/need for my recently ordered ATC . Solar system and refrigeration, likely as efficient as I can find. I am just starting to dig through the Ultimate solar threads, and whatever related info I can absorb. I would like a plug -in to supplement the 150...

Thank you once again, your input has been helpful and I've learned along the way. If they go bad or are not up to the task I'll move up. Or trade up to 3/4 ton. Silly to overthink, but I'll know soon . I have tools, and been wrenching on my Moto's for a long time. Fords EPAS, or electronic...
