RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Soft Side Rivets.

Much thanks for the explanation. One time I think I had a strong wind blowing in thru the open door when lowering the roof. The strap may have come loose then. I don't have a fan. I wish there was an easy way to reattach the strap. It is only one place I have to tuck in. Probably just one strap.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Soft Side Rivets.

What are the 3 rivets on the front and back soft panels. They are midway down. Is there Velcro there that attaches to the lift panel that helps it fold in when lowering the roof? Something has changed. I now have to tuck material in the front every time I lower the roof. Previously for 8 years...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Heavy Wind Pop-UP Truck Camper

We have an ATC Ocelot and I am happy to say we survived an extreme wind storm in Death Valley on night of Jan 16th. We had 50-60 mph winds that lasted for at least 4 hours. My wife was afraid the truck would turn over. We have a full size 1/2 ton Chevy. I was not worried about that, but I was...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Front sliding window no longer an option at ATC

I like having a window to see out the back of the camper while driving with my rear view mirror. I pull some small jet ski trailers sometimes that aren't visible with my side mirrors. At least I can see it is still there. Maybe they could install a fixed glass window (single piece of glass non...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Extension Ladder Use

Do you lean it up against the top aluminum edge of the roof? I need to get up high for snow removal.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Extension Ladder Use

Any problem with leaning an extension ladder up against the roof when camper is popped up? I would pad the ladder to avoid scratches and keep it as vertical as possibly to minimize side force on the roof. My plan is to use a collapsible ladder for snow removal. I have been standing on the top...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Rack Build Question

I sent an email to Marty and here is his reply: "You do not need to put spacers under your rack. The roof will pull to it as you are installing the screws. I would put a fat bead of silicone right down the middle of the rack foot then screw them down and wipe of the extra with my finger tip. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Rack Build Question

I have a 2013 ATC Ocelot shell. I am building roof racks out of 1 inch square tube like the factory racks from ATC and FWC. I am going to have two bars with each bar sitting on 4 feet screwed to the roof. I am using 1 inch 1/8 thick square tube. I could get by with only two feet per bar but want...

Alley-Kat, I like your window curtain design. How did you attach it? Velcro? Do you take it totally off for open viewing? Mike

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Compressor Refrigerator Venting

I have an Isotherm CR85 compressor refrigerator. It is mounted in a factory All Terrain Camper refrigerator cabinet. It has no venting to the outside of the camper. I like it that way so dust does not get in. Since 2013 it sat on it's legs in the cabinet to provide an air gap at the bottom. The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Venting

I have 215 amp/hrs. Here is my previous setup with one group 24 battery. http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/9262-2nd-battery-install-isolation/ I previously had ~85 amp hours. I think I had 4 ga cable originally. Instantaneously I could send 90 amps to the battery. It would settle in at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Venting

I installed two 6-volt golf cart batteries inside my All Terrain Camper. I built a battery box out of wood and modified the vent caps to vent the batteries to the outside. I caulked the inside seams of my battery with 100% silicone and coated the inside with PlastiDip liquid rubber coating. I...

Very good point. Thanks for the reply. I could probably use a jumper cable to utilize my auxiliary batter for starting.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Catalytic Wave Heater Alternative

I tried to use the recommendations in the Wave manual even though I had a Coleman. I would crack a rough vent about a 1/2"-3/4" and partially open a couple of turnbuckle doors. When it is cold outside below freezing you can feel the cold air at the floor. The smell is hard to describe. It is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2nd Battery Install-Isolation

I could not find a key switched power source that only worked in the run position. I chose to install a manual switch on the dash. I control when I want to charge my auxiliary battery to charge. There is a light on the switch that reminds me when the auxiliary battery is connected. If my...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2nd Battery Install-Isolation

My Chevy Silverado had place to mount a second battery up front. I bought a group 24 deep cycle from Walmart which fit the tray perfectly. I bought the factory hold down clamp. I was fortunate to find very heavy battery cable with lugs already attached. Napa, Autozone and Oreilly have premade...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Catalytic Wave Heater Alternative

I purchased a Coleman BlackCat Perfectemp Catalytic heater. I think it puts out 3000 BTU of heat. It has high and low settings. It is made for a portable propane cylinder. With fittings I converted it to be used on a large BBQ tank. From Amazon it was $59 last October. We used it in Utah last...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Basic Ocelot Shell Build

Side bed extended. Can walk between to exit without disturbing other person. In bad weather we use TV trays to cook and eat off of. My benches are only attached with a few screws and can easily be removed and turned back to stock. My mods should not hurt resale value. Mountain bikes in camper

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Basic Ocelot Shell Build

Here is a basic functional build we did on an Ocelot shell. We wanted our camper to be versatile and functional. We spend most of the time outside except if the weather is bad. We wanted to be able to sleep 4 people and eat inside. I also wanted to be able to put mountain bikes inside the...
