RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West thoughts on this yakima trailer off the paved roads?

I second the Jet Ski mod. I have pulled mine on some tough and tight trails... so far (fingers crossed) no issues. I pull two boats usually and our canoe just in case ;) Mine I even added some stowage. Was rather inexpensive and was actually pretty new when I bought it. Modding was pretty...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flat Tow vs Trailer

What model Jeep? Jeeps have a neutral in transfer case? Put transfer case in neutral and transmission in Park... unlock steering and go. This exactly why I don't want to get rid of my Jeep. I'd rather tow my Tacoma but it would be a PIA

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Fiamma Awning

I agree never understood leaving awning up over the night? Makes me wary of it up and don't sleep as well ;) No BS story... was camped in spot in Death Valley and big wind / dust storm came through. Guy in BIG bus type RV had his awning up. Wind blew it completely up and over the top. Poles and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Interior lights for HAWK

I just watched a couple YouTube videos on the newer FWC models. I have a 2015 Hawk with switched top lights inside that have LED inserts. Under counter lights on mine are LED strips. These newer models have LED strip lights on top. I can't "really" tell from the videos but the strips look...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Key FOB programming

I got 2 new keys and a FOB along with programming for 2/3 the price the dealer was asking for 1 fob and key. It was for my Toyota Tacoma. I called around and two local locksmiths both recommended this same shop. Apparently the new chips and programming takes new equipment. I'd say just look...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Fiamma Awning

Voice of experience... when putting legs back up to stow and roll up... snug the little plastic headed bolts that tighten the legs down. Apparently I did not and it must have came loose and fell out. Had to "MacGuyverize" the rest of the trip. It's metric and a PIA to find and replace. Fiama was...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How many nights in 2017?

85 not all in my FWC as I still tent camp too. Hope to get more this year. Just got back from long weekend bringing in the New Year. 20 degrees and snow flurries here in Tx started 2018 on a cool note ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Suggestions needed: I've got $80 gift card for local Army Surplus store!

Compass is good but not so if you don't know how to use and especially if no map or preplanned waypoints. 1st aid is always good but need to know how to use too. All the suggestions are good... choose what suits you best for now and you can get the other stuff later ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flat Tow vs Trailer

Debbie this is what I use and works great... not real hard to make original install for brakes and after that a breeze! http://www.readybrake.com/uploads/3/9/4/0/39400577/ready_brute_elite_tow_bar_rb_9050.pdf

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flat Tow vs Trailer

Debbie, I really need to add sliders to mine!!!! Hard to find good ones for Superduty trucks. I also added the Warn Hidden Winch bumper and winch for a warm fuzzy if needed ;) Also not for trails but it's a lot easier if you have the JKU wired to hook lights to the trucks lights. I use just the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flat Tow vs Trailer

Driller I TOTALLY agree and we have been able to take my Truck a lot of fun places. We take the Jeep mainly so we can visit areas in locality without breaking down the FWC or camp. Taking bicycles helps but it's nice to have jeep for a run to other areas. Also nice we can mount bikes and kayaks...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flat Tow vs Trailer

I tow my Cherokee XJ flat tow behind my F250 6.4L So far never an issue. We tow it when we want to search around the area and still use FWC as a base camp. The Jeep adds storage too on the road ;) It is easier to tow too if I want to get into some more remote areas. The trailer has little...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kidde fire extinguisher recall

Got Mine on Saturday :) OK I'm keeping the old one in my garage / shop. Am I correct that the issue is that the handle "May" break if used? I'll keep just in case it may come in handy

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wear & Tear on your FWC?

I had the edge coming off the shelf just inside the door above where we store the Porta Poti. Tried hairdryer and the re-glue fixes. Did not hold. However at Lowe's they sell angled pieces of aluminum that fit perfect over the edge. Cut a piece to length and used small wood screws. Looks fine...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar connector mount

I use it on longer time out trips with the FWC too. Great for extra gear and not have to pack and unpack every night. We added the refrige setup on trailer just for when I tent camp. Refrige compartment is stand alone and removeable when not needed.. I like tent camping with the OZ but Susan has...
