RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Burlington, WA to Rexburg, ID Road Trip

Mike - I looked over the route you suggested using an old-fashioned paper map. Would you recommend one or 2 nites between Whidbey and Spokane? And do you recommend campground reservations after Labor Day? We are so used to the Ore & Wash coast where reservations are a must. Thanks.

We are planning a long road trip at the end of the summer with our Fleet. We live in the SF Bay Area and are going up the coast to Whidbey Island, WA. We have done this the last 3 years and have that part nailed down. Will take 6 days to get there. From Whidbey we are ultimately ending up in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eureka,Ca to Oregon coast

We are heading up to Whidbey Island from the SF Bay Area via Ore & Wash coast this Thursday. Our 3rd trip in 3 years! I would agree with the positive comments about the Oregon State Park Campgrounds. MUCH nicer than Calif SP CGs. Pick up free annual Oregon State Park guide at one of the parks -...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removing fingerprints on wood veneer

As Bill said above the campers made around 2012 have the wood grain paper - be VERY careful cleaning as I have unfortunately removed the paper "grain" with very little rubbing. I tried to remove finger prints and other stains but after ruining the finish so easily I have decided to let it go and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you bring/pack in your FWC?

Hoyden, we have a 2012 Fleet with a side dinette. Note, we generally eat outside so the rear dinette seat stays folded down and we have a nice lounging area. Hefty 29 qt containers work really well in the Fleet. You can place 2 in the foot area of the dinette - almost a perfect fit for 2...

We are heading up to Whidbey Island again this summer along the Pacific Coast from San Francisco. (Thanks for all the ideas last summer). I need to find a campsite along the northern Oregon coast between Tillamock and Astoria. We stayed at Bar View Jetty County Park last summer which was OK...

Fantastic time again! Thanks to everyone at FWC & RC Pilot Jim who put so much work into the weekend. It was great to visit with fellow owners again this year & catch up on the last year and all the new mods. Sugarloaf is a beautiful park and a perfect setting for a rally. Can't wait to see...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rnk's Hawk shell build

Ahh - we have a 2012 Fleet! Missed out on that improvement. Will have to flip them over. Hopefully won't be too distructive.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rnk's Hawk shell build

Did you flip the wall cabinet so that the doors opened down instead of the FWC way of lifting up? If so, are you happy with this change? I've been thinking that they would be more functional that way instead of having to bend down to see inside the cabinet.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fleece as soft-side insulation?

Has anyone thought about using ready-made thermal curtain panels available at Lowe's cut to fit & velcro added as necessary. Not sure about insulating properties but this is from Lowe's description: Room darkening and noise reducing Reduces energy costs by preventing up to 25% of heat loss...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Building Our New Camper

Ski3pin, amazing work and 67 nights already - we are envious! Would you mind sharing what material you used for the cold weather pack? I was planning on making one using Insul-Bright from Joanns but it requires fabric covering on both sides so a lot more sewing. Thanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Protecting interior wood finish

We have a 2012 Fleet with the light wood cabinetry (birch veneer we think). It is very susceptible to stains from water - leaves pale black spots. Does anyone have any experience with oiling or sealing the interior wood? Thanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kitchen Organizer

I got the idea for a homemade cabin bag from Overland Hadley's post at Expedition Portal. It was easy to make out of canvas and stretch fabric. I sewed a 2 in wide Velcro strip across the top of the back side of the bag. Then we stick it to the Velcro for the Thermal Pack near the ceiling...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SF Bay Area to Whidbey Island, WA via I-5 Camping Ideas

Rather than flying to SEA, we are thinking of driving from the SF Bay Area to Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island in northwest Washington with our Fleet. We will be taking I-5 to shorten the trip and are looking for camping ideas - undeveloped is OK. We are planning on 3 days-2 nites to get there...
