RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

I've never seen electric brakes on a boat trailer. I think 99% of boat trailers have surge brakes, but I'm not sure. We fish in the ocean and the salt would do some serious damage to the insides of the electric trailer brake mechanism in short time! This is a better boat trailer brake option:

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

Just ran water through the system and hot water tank to clean it out. The hot water heater is awesome! That thing gets HOT!! @6040 - I'll take a few picts of the LED flood lights and post one of the better ones. My original thought of putting some kind of switch in the cab of the truck to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

I'll add more thoughts later today and some picts. For now here's some thoughts. I got home late last night and got to play with some of the lights. I really like the exterior LED light package with the four down-facing corner lights and the two side shining lights. Both have separate...

No moding for me for a while. Just the IQ4 so the dual batteries are started off right. I am going to open it up tomorrow and run the heater for hours to burn any crap out of it. I ran it tonight for a bit and it was nauseating! Also going to flush the water system out too.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

I just finished the 5 hour drive from Woodland with the new camper. Can't wait to dive into it tomorrow and see what it's all about. I've already installed the Iota IQ4 Smart Charger into the converter.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Palomino Bronco Reviews

I actually really like the way they look, but durability and quality would be my concern. I'd rather pay $8,000 more and get something that will last.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Charging station in our Hawk

When I bought my Lenovo ThinkPad I paid extra for a charger that allows me to switch between 110v AC and 12v DC. It's a pretty big charger compared to the 110v AC-only charger, but not too big to carry in my computer bag. I've used it many times in the past and it works fine to charge the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bill's FWC Hawk build.

Thanks Bill. I'm 5 days from picking my camper up so I'm betting it's too late for something like that. I hope it's standard though.

Bill, Did you purchase the countertops from FWC or did you make them yourself? If you bought them from FWC I'm wondering if the storage above the refrig is standard now on campers with an ice box or smaller refrig? We went with the standard ice box (no refrig) and I really hope mine has this...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Funky readings from the monitor panel

I posted this in another thread, but this one might be the best spot: Does anyone know if the newer IOTA IQ4 will work with a dual battery set up? The new Hawks are coming with a single IOTA DLS-30 converter/charger and I am wondering if the IQ4 will work with a dual AGM battery set up. Would...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Charger

Does anyone know if the newer IOTA IQ4 will work with a dual battery set up? The new Hawks are coming with a single IOTA DLS-30 converter/charger and I am wondering if the IQ4 will work with a dual AGM battery set up. Would I potentially need a second DLS-30 converter and IQ4 unit for the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West GPS for your iPad - Garmin GLO

I didn't read this entire thread, but wanted to say that for work we use iPads with a Dual Universal GPS Receiver. It's nice because you can locate the GPS receiver away from the iPad to increase signal strength if you need to and not have any cords However, the GPS receiver is very strong and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bill's FWC Hawk build.

Bill, you must be retired and have lots of time available. With a 1.5 year old and my own business I don't have the time to do anything like this and was happy to pay FWC to do all of it for me. Besides a lack of time, I don't think I'd be brave enough to cut or drill into the new fiberglass...

I can walk to MDO and do it often. I was there tonight! Fishmore - Thanks for the info. I'm going to get both batteries from FWC so that both are the same brand, age, group and type. Once these are shot I'll look into the Cabela's brand. I have a few Cabela's points I could use on them!

That's good info JHa6av8r! We won't have a fridge so that'll be a big power savings. The heater is the only big one and I think careful use of that could get us by the same way. Can't wait to get the camper so I can start doing some mods to it. Went to the bank today and have a cashier's...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Batteries in New FWC Hawk

I imagine a single battery would charge relatively fast with a decent sized solar panel and bright sunlight. What about a dual battery system? Can a 100 watt or smaller solar panel charge both batteries in a single day assuming the panel has full view of the sun? If I go with a solar system...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Batteries in New FWC Hawk

Using the "amps per day spreadsheet" I'm estimating a usage of approximately 25 to 45 amps/day depending on a summer or winter scenario. Looks like that might be 3-5 days of use if I am running a dual battery system. I really like the idea of having solar and not having to deal with lugging...
