RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted newish Dometic small 2 or 3 way fridge BC

I never thought about a hinged vent, but I did think that it would be a pain to clean the compressor of the fridge with a standard vent. Thanks for the info and recommendation Bill. I found this website and plan on calling them to see what they have and can make...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted newish Dometic small 2 or 3 way fridge BC

Bill, It looks like we're going to be in Marin for Easter, which is a 4.5 hour drive one way. The rally is the following weekend and is a 5.5 hour drive. Not wanting to do back-to-back weekends of driving it looks like we'll have to pass this year on the rally. BTW, what are your thoughts on...

I haven't decided yet. There's a lot going on this spring. Let me confirm a couple of things and get back to you.

Bill, How big of a vent did you install on your camper for the refrig? Do you know what the dimensions are and recall where you bought it?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Large Solar Panels on a FWC

I'm going to go with the MPPT technology since a lot of my use will be from Sept to Dec and with cloudy days. I want to maximize everything with this system. Thanks

Mark, Which solar controller are you running with your two panels? Thanks

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Large Solar Panels on a FWC

Mark, A lot of my camper usage will be on hunting trips and these can last anywhere from 5 to 20 days. Last year I camped for 21 days on a CA elk hunt under quite a thick canopy of pine trees. With a solar panel I wouldn't be able to camp in a spot like that one and get much of a charge even...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Large Solar Panels on a FWC

Wow, thanks Mark! I can't imagine you ever running into problems with charging your batteries. I need to crunch some numbers but I'm thinking a 160 watt panel should do what I will need it to do.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Large Solar Panels on a FWC

What's that largest solar panels folks have put on their FWC? Regardless of the weight factor and difficulty in pushing the top open. I'm considering adding a solar panel and have been looking at the 160 and 190 watt panels. I want a panel large enough to generate enough power on a cloudy day...

I think I'm going to go with the Truckfridge model 65. It's a re-labeld Isotherm Cruise 65, which are supposedly pretty solid, quite and efficient units. http://www.indelwebastomarineusa.com/Products/us/html/8140.html...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shock absorber review

Good read. Just today I received a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks for the rear of my truck. I'm anxious to see if they help the ride.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grey water disposal in sub-freezing weather

If it was me I think I'd set up my exterior drain hose and bucket to catch the grey water and add a bottle of some eco-friendly antifreeze to it. Something animal safe of course. One thing you could add is a bottle of rubbing alcohol. It'll lower the freezing point but I'm not sure by how...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Project Report: Solar Install on a Fleet

Well, I received the Trimetric unit and have it all hooked up and working. I just need to mount it now. The little device is amazing!! It is super interesting to flip on switches to see how much draw is associated with each item. The LED lights draw almost nothing. I'm going to take notes...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted newish Dometic small 2 or 3 way fridge BC

Is there a way to install the Truckfridge and not vent it to the exterior? I don't have the exterior refrig vents and I'd rather not cut the siding to install them either. Could the Truckfridge be vented into the interior of the camper?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Soft Side and Rivets

Right now I'm not too concerned about being able to prevent further damage from occurring. That should be easy to do. What I'm bummed about is that this has happened and I now have a this area that has a cut that is nearly all the way through the fabric. With general wear and tear over the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question on Wires in FWC Hawk

There are two sets of wires that terminate behind the icebox. I was hoping someone had insight on what each of them are for. I think the coiled wires mounted to the wall are for the refrig fan and the larger gauge wires for the refrig itself.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted newish Dometic small 2 or 3 way fridge BC

FWIW: I have an ice box in my 2013 Hawk and I'm researching out 2-way refrigerators and specifically models that will fit into the area where the ice box is. I've been looking at the 2-way Dometic and Engel models. I was confused by the Engel SR-70 model dimensions so I called them to as what...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question on Wires in FWC Hawk

Yes, I know FWC pre-wires for nearly every option and these are likely for an option I didn't get, but I was wondering if anyone had some first hand experience what these could be for.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question on Wires in FWC Hawk

I pulled out my ice box the other day and noticed a couple sets of wires that terminate there. Anyone know what they are for? I was thinking that they are for two items I didn't order: the refrig vent fan and the refrig itself. Thoughts? When I get a minute I will trace and test them to see...

There's a warranty, but I haven't contacted them yet. I'm sure they will work with me on this, but I was curious if others had seen this before.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Soft Side and Rivets

I was actually thinking a chaff patch and something to cover the rivet would be a good idea. Still don't like the idea that there's a weak spot in the side now and all it's going to take is one trip where these preventative measures aren't effective and I'm going to have a hole there.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Soft Side and Rivets

I noticed while on my recent trip to DVNP that a couple of the rear rivets on the soft side portion of the camper are acting like a cookie cutter and are punching a hole in the fabric when the top is down and we're underway. Any thoughts? The camper is not even three months old and this was...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Death Valley Info

We camped at the same site as the group from Mammoth, but we were not traveling with them. We didn't know them at all until we got there. It was only my truck and a Toyota Tundra w/o a FWC in my group. We also never went down into Saline Valley. Must of been someone else. We drove from the...
