RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dodge 3/4t tires-ToyoM55 or BFG KO2

I’ve had BFGs on other vehicles, but not on my Ram. I have heard a lot of negatives regarding the BFGs causing death wobble on the older solid front axle Rams. Not sure if it’s been addressed with the newer Rams. May want to search out death wobble for more information. I had Cooper ATPs and now...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Struts to lift roof - and no lift panels or EMT lifters?

Sorry, I edited my response after re-reading your initial question. I did think of another option, similar to what’s used on pop up camp trailers. Check out “Homebuilt Pop-up roof lift system” on YouTube. Telescoping sections might work for the short front section of the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Struts to lift roof - and no lift panels or EMT lifters?

I know you don’t want an internal lift mechanism, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a soft sided camper without a ridgid and “locked” structure holding the roof up.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West double sleeping bag

I’ve had an RVSuperbag for years. It’s performed well and held up nicely. I’ve also used it as two single bags while camping with friends.

It did look like it had been well used. I thought the other two had potential, but the ten footers are too long for me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West TorkLift or standard bed install?

I had TorkLift mounts with an early version of the Fastguns on my last pop up camper and they were so much easier to work with. I really wish I had kept them.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best Tires For 1995 F350 & 1996 Squire 8000?

I had Cooper ATPs on my Ram 2500 and they were an excellent tire. They were E rated and handled the weight of the cummins and Hawk with no issues. The only reason I pulled them off was to go to a larger set up. I had Discount Tire pull them off my old wheels and put them on my son's Ram 1500...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Discount Tire?

I've also bought tires from Discount Tire for many years and many locations. Never had an issue. I always check their on line prices as well as Costco prices to get the best deal. They've never failed to match another quote I've gotten from competitors.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC title?

I agree. It's just a revenue stream for the state. A co-worker has an older Hawk he got from his father, and it's never been licensed in WA. As Craig333 mentioned, law enforcement has other more important matters to attend to.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC title?

Aussiedor, Can you elaborate on your comments? I moved to WA a few years ago and had to deal with the WSP and licensing office for my first camper, an older Hallmark I bought in Montana without a title & plate. It was a real hassle. I now have a Hawk I bought in Oregon, again without a title...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Opinions Wanted...

Thanks for the idea Jim. My portable fridge has a gap of approx. 1" - 2" between it and the inner walls, so mounting side mounted slides may be challenging. I was looking at the other drawer slides on Rockler's site and was thinking the undermount slides may work. I guess I'll have to figure...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Opinions Wanted...

I recently removed the ice box from the rear drivers side of my Hawk to install a Dometic compressor fridge. While the ice box had insulation sprayed on the shell, there was no additional insulation inside the opening along the walls. I ended up removing the front panel of the ice box cabinet...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My new truck 2008 Chevy 2500 HD LT Duramax-Allison

shige48, Have you had a chance to talk to other owners of similar trucks that carry campers about your plans? I only ask because I also installed a leveling kit on my Ram 2500. Loved the look, but once I loaded my camper it settled the rear, which resulted in my headlights pointing up and into...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thermarest vs. memory foam?

I picked up a Lightspeed 2 person air mattress from Costco last year. I leave it on top of the mattress deflated and just inflate it when I pop the top. It is slick and a bit noisy, but it works well. Never considered putting an air mattress under the foam mattress. Does it help make the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grandy on 6'5" Bed?

I had an 8' long Hallmark on my short bed 2500 Ram for a couple of years and as Ace mentioned, it didn't have an impact on the trucks handling and I never had an issue.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bending in lift panel hinge

Jim, Thanks for the response and pictures. My Hawk has tack strips running N-S on the ceiling, so I'll have to see where I can located 2x4s without causing too much damage. Good luck with the lift panel rebuild, and nice looking power wagon! Elver

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Storage lid props

I use something similar to BobM, but I used 3 small rounded head screws and braided twine. Secured the twine to the back of the roll over couch with a screw and put the other screws under the lids. I left a gap under the 2 lid screws and made loops in the twine to slip over the screw heads.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bending in lift panel hinge

JaSAn, Where do you secure the 2x4s? All four corners? Any pictures? I'm thinking it might be a good practice during winter camping, mainly to support snow loads.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Sway Bar for 3/4 Ton with Hawk

I have an '06 Ram 2500 with the cummins and I too never felt the need for a rear sway bar. The truck handles well and while I can feel the Hawk while cornering, I never feel like it's pushing the truck around. I don't know if they make them for 2500s, but there are sway bar disconnects that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using existing propane connections for Mr Heater?

PokyBro, I had a 1991 all wood framed Hallmark camper. It had a tin box formed inside a cabinet for the propane bottle. The gas line penetration was sealed, as mentioned by others, to keep any gas leaks out of the camper interior.
