RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Anyone using an inReach 2-way Satellite Communicator?

Funny story ..... I was primitive camping around a lake in the Sierra's. I took a nap only to find out that a lot of smoke from a fire had settled in around the lake. Out of reach from the local radio stations, wasn't quite sure if the fire was near by or it was just the smoke. Turned out the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 3 way frig. vs. 2 way

Called Dometic this morning and got the information. Apparently the RM 2354 is the newest model of a 3 way, and the RB1F is just the trim, ..... rt. hinge, black panel, 1 (don't remember but nothing ground breaking) and the F is for a fan. She didn't say if the fan was for a hook up or if it...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 3 way frig. vs. 2 way

Apparently the Dometic RM 2354, 3 way is now a RM 2354 RB1F, has something to do with the cooling of the unit, and they have added 1 or 2 fans to help with the cooling. I will call the manufacturer tomorrow and get a update. I'll pass it on. Funstini

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 3 way frig. vs. 2 way

Yeah, I had no problems with my Norcold 3 way (other than losing refrigerant) and I was in some pretty hot places in the southwest. Always kept my food around 40 degrees. I long for the good old days, thought things were supposed to get better. I have never watched my batteries as much as I...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 3 way frig. vs. 2 way

I guess I'm just the opposite of what it seems everyone else is doing. I had a 3 way frig. loved it, used propane every time I used the camper. With the first frig. I got about 5 years out of it, second frig. not so much. Each time I lost my refrigerant, had a tendency to take the camper on...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Dometic code flashes

Yeah, the unit was sitting upright for at least a couple weeks before it was turned on. Got it through West Marine and know they will exchange it. A big hassle in taking it back out and returning it though. So you're thinking it is defective huh?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Dometic code flashes

Back again, always when I need help. Thanks for being there. I installed a new Dometic CR-110, hooked everything up and it is throwing out a 3-flash code on both AC and DC. Unplugged everything to reset the unit and still has the code coming up. Of course there's no tech support for this...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Keeping Hawk plugged in OK for batteries?

Never thought about it before, but I leave my camper in the driveway with solar panels charging and with no electrical draw except for the two alarms. After the batteries are fully charged it goes into a "trickle" mode. Is this wearing down my batteries over the long haul?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West TV In Your Camper?

I must admit I follow the stock market so I use a satellite and "Dish" for my tv. But I am on the road for 3 or 4 weeks and it's entertainment at night. I use a Winegard portable satellite that you just point it to the south, plug it in and it does the rest. You can use other options as far as...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 3 way frig's.

Thanks Stan. Very informative video. I noticed that you guys are using the Dometic, instead of the Norcold, why is that? My problem is losing the refrigerant, is one more durable than the other? How about the 2-way versus the 3-way, is one more durable, do they both use ammonium for...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 3 way frig's.

Still looking into the idea. I guess loosing refrigerant happens no matter what mode your using. External fan, is that like my Norcold has the button for turning on a fan to circulate the air? I guess one of the Dometic family is pretty much the same size as my Norcold and should just drop in...

I know this topic has been beat to death, but need some advice and I always turn to this forum. I have had two Norcold 3-way, N-300's. First one lasted about 4 years, the second about 2 years. The problem is really using the camper on the backroads, mainly 3's and sometimes class 4's roads...

Thank you anyway...If anybody knows or can give advise. I do camp in freezing temps, but this time I have my Hawk with water pump, tank, hot water/shower. If the tank has water in it and I used the water pump and sink to wash dishes the night before, how can I assure that there will be no...

Yeah I'm thinking I'll probably go with the "E"s ............ you guys talked me into it. Even though there about $100 more a tire, it looks like the best bet. Did find a place on the East Coast that will ship them for free and no sales tax, that should help. Thanks. Funstini

Old wise ones. I greatly appreciate your opinions. Time to replace my tires on my 2002 F-350 Ford diesel, 4x4, 1-ton pick-up with a dedicated Keystone 4 wheel camper on the rear. I want to use a larger tire so I can get an extra couple inches below the differential. I am installing a 4...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West power usage

Yes. The inverter itself consumes power and the larger they are, the more it uses. I have done some load testing between a 300 watt and an 800 watt to run my Sat. dish and TV. Almost an amp more using the 800. An inverter should really be sized to match the load you want to power. Thank you...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West power usage

Always turn to you guys when questions are to be asked ....... When I use my larger inverter (I think it's 2,000 watt used for my microwave) for smaller devices (say a computer) does it use more power from on-board batteries (drain the batteries faster)than say, a smaller inverter that just...

Hay Stan ......... I've owned my camper for over a couple years now, and have to admit the first two years were problem free, but now I seem to have made up for lost time. First of all, I was up at 11,000 feet and noticed my camper had come loose and was moving around the back of the truck...
