RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Bryan Wheat has left Alaskan to start his own RV service and restoration shop

I have had the great opportunity to work with Bryan and to have him and his crew repair the damage caused by a severe hail storm. It is a journey from Colorado to Washington, but the effort, cost in getting this done was worth it. The camper looks excellent. The wife and I made a enjoyable trip...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Camping 2007 Alaskan CO

We use a small 12volt ceramic heater while traveling. Draws very little voltage. Sealing and insulation the camper is key. I also have the heater on a small switch just inside the door. It is controlled by 2 snap switches. On at about 35 deg f and off at about 50 deg f. Heater is placed in a...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Trucks and Alaskan Camper Question

We had our 10ft CO on a 1995 Dodge 2500. Put Firestone air bag set up on rear. Brakes on this truck left a lot to be desired. Upgrades by EGR brakes front and rear and a exhaust brake helped a lot. Put over a hundred thousand mile on this truck with a Alaskan and prior S&S camper with a lot of...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Nova Kool

Any one changed over to the Nova Kool refrigerator. I have a 10ft CO with a 3 way dometic refrigerator. It is leaking ammonia and we are sick of dealing with it. We camp at elevations above 10000ft so propane never worked well. Looking at Nova Kool 4500 12 Voltage DC. Will supply power via 2 12...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Cabover lifting while driving, anyone else?

Verynice, Not a uncommon problem. Air seems to have enough pressure to lift the top of the camper. Getting passed by a 18 wheeler is a good cause. On my camper a 10' overhead it has a 4" x 3/8" bolt that goes thru to tie down the top half to the bottom half. This bolt goes thru at the left...
