RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Potential Alaskan 10' Buyer

I'm sorry I'm missing something in your description. Getting older and dumber I guess. Your bracket description and drawing are very helpful. Except from what I gather, I don't understand where you have to raise the camper to use the bracket. On my 10', back is almost 2 ft beyond flatbed.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Alaskan comes down crooked

I would jack the top up all the way, wipe the exterior slides and then spray some lube on them before replacing any o-rings. BTW, are any of the latter leaking? Mike I used to have that problem. I replaced with the larger newer pistons. Used to be a problem going up too. No more problems now...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Grandby on a short bed '07+ Tundra dbl cab

hmmm... Has nobody tried this before? I think I'd like the shorter wheelbase of the 6.5' box better than the long box truck -- better for turning, parking, off-roading and easier to find used around here. However, what I don't want to do is buy the SB truck and then after driving it for a year...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Has anyone shortened their lower door to open all the way?

I would like the bottom door to open as far as the top door so that it is all the way against the right rear of the camper like the top one. Or...find a good way to keep it from closing all the time. I guess you could use a bungee cord to keep it open but I try not to "rig" anything :) I...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Use - Heating

Milt designed and built his....very cool....old, cast iron incense burner...large enough to cover a stove burner and he vented it out of the upper section with plumbing materials... I think the vent thing is overkill unless your trying to run the heater all night. Unless your Alaskan is a lot...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West a guide repair question

The front and rear of the NCO's have a pair of guides which align the top and bottom section for raising and lowering. In the CO's they are on the rear only, right behind the hydraulic tubes. I've got a leak, through the bolt which holds the front, outside guide. The outside acorn nut is...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Has anyone shortened their lower door to open all the way?

As I've been giving my new (to me) 94' CO some much needed maintenance and upgrades I've been trying to figure out why the lower door is not designed to open all the way? If it were only 2" shorter it would not be in the way every time I climb in and out, so, I was thinking  I might...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Optimal tire pressure for carrying an Alaskan?

I run 80 all around with the Alaskan on. I think truck is pretty fully loaded with camper on. Not down on overload springs, but sagging pretty good without bags. I also put on the longer bump stops and find them helpful. Price isn't bad for what you get with them. Made the mistake of putting...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tie-downs for my 10' NCO Alaskan - looking at options

I found the corners getting pulled apart on rough roads, or when going off road. I ended up taking the seats up to expose the inside corners and then epoxying in a large piece of wood to help hold the corner together. Would still get a lot of pulling on the corner. A metal plate inside would...

(Why do I wait until 2 weeks before a big trip to tackle camper-tasks that have been on my list for over 6 months? ) UPDATE: Ok I found this post/photo. Any other similar out there or more detail suggestions? Thanks. Your not alone. May be it's because we're getting the camper out and just...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Thoughts on the NCO Cajita

I can see your point on the model shown. I think the Granby and the Keystone would be fine for some. One thing that made me think twice about it is to get a 6'4" int ht with the low profile they really had to use alot of fabric. Will there be issues with high wind? But I do think Stan...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Thoughts on the NCO Cajita

Give me a cabover Keystone made for a flat bed. needs to have some outside access to the area where the wheel wells were. Love the dinette design now available, probably wouldn''t have bought Alaskan if had been available when I did.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tested the memory foam mattress this weekend

my wife an i have sort of the opposite experience with the 4" memory foam toppers... we ROAST! though as mentioned the temps in the pacific nw are fairly mild, with nights in the summer rarely dipping below 50. They are also quite the heavy items! We had one on our queen mattress inside our...

I'm not familar with Bodiak. But if you are not looking for anything super special, just a basic front hitch, we have had good luck on ordering them through ... www.etrailer.com. They usually offer free shipping, no sales tax in most states, they usually have a few different manf. choices...

I just tried to get to their site and it goes to something asking for an id and password. Sure hope they're still in business. I just got a few bucks together and was going to order one in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone know if Bodiak is still in business. I'm unable to open their web...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Service/utility body

I thought I wanted a service also. By the time I looked at the expense and some of the limitations to having one (reduced carrying capacity without camper, limited choices for what camper I could use) I decided to go with an aluminum flat bed. I've a large amount of space for storage where...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West go chassi

If you can't drive to the shore, how well would the wheels on this thing work; in sand, dirt, mud, etc. If you could run this thing up to the shore, you can probably drive there. Don't know weight of your outfit, but some kind of dolly with large wheels would probably work better. They make...
