RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Anyone using a hitch cargo carrier ?

You shouldn't get upset about not moving your firewood. I have lost 40 very nice ash trees in the last year due to someone bringing infected wood into my area...thanks. And to the original post I use an expanded steel 5th-wheel tailgate as an area to carry stuff and as a small porch. I use angle...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Moab camping

After Rustlers Road where Needles Road takes a jog to the right. Site is on the left, you can see it on Google Earth. Nothing too primitive but it has a great view and you can hike to the edge of the canyon.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Moab camping

Milts is the best place in Moab to eat. I'm pretty much self-contained camper wise, solar shower too. I have a dirtbike so Sand Flats gets me close to Slickrock trail and some of the Jeep trails too. I was thinking Kane Creek would be nice when we do Lockhart canyon too. I prefer BLM land and...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Moab camping

Heading to Moab in mid October to do a little dirtbike riding. I am thinking about camping at Sand Flats Recreation area and also camping along Kane Creek. Has anyone here stayed at either area?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Colorado Springs Car Camping

I just got back from a great camping area near Buena Vista, west of Colorado Springs. Not sure how capable of a car you have but some of the 4 mile recreation area isn't too rough. I didn't check it out but there are some camping areas around eleven mile reservoir.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Island in the Sky, The Needles, Moab, and BLM

I have some of the Charles Wells books on offroad trails. They are very helpful and have trail ratings that are pretty accurate. There is a nice easy road from Gateway to Moab called Castle Valley road. Took my Subaru Outback on it with a side trip to Thompson Canyon to camp. We stayed at the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Mounting Eagle on RAM 1500 (before and after photos and how I did it)

The Eagle is a perfect size for me. I love how narrow it is, if the mirrors fit I'm good to go. I had to make a platform out of 2x4 and some plywood on top to make it clear the bedrails. I also put an steel mesh 5th wheel tailgate on back to serve as sort of a porch. So far I so good with this...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New Hitchgate

I just got an expanded steel mesh 5th wheel tailgate off Craigslist. I use strips of angle iron instead of the cables so it won't bounce. Can strap quite a bit of stuff on it and it doubles as a porch when I'm set up.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking for camping spots in northern New Mexico

Heading to New Mexico at the end of the month to ride dirtbikes. I am looking for spots to set up basecamp. I have a 4wd Ram with an Eagle on it but towing a bike trailer so I can't do too much serious offroading. Riding mainly out of Dixon NM but first night will be between Taos and Oklahoma...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Show me your camper risers.

Here is a very good video Stan at 4Wheel sent me. I have an Eagle on a Dodge Ram QuadCab and it fits great. I just made a platform with 3 upright 2x4's running lengthwise with 2x4's at the ends and plywood on the top.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Remote camping in and around colorado

If you're still going to Crested Butte there is a nice site on Slate River road. Keep going straight where the road takes a sharp right switchback on the way up to Washington Gulch. There are two sites there but kinda close together. If someone is there another spot is on up the switchbacks just...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Crested Butte camping

Heading out to Colorado next week. Loose plan is to follow the Colorado Backcountry Discovery route from Buena Vista south to Telluride. I've never explored the Crested Butte area and if it sounds interesting I may decide to bounce around there instead. Thought I'd ask here if any of you have...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking for a clear screen door slide

Thanks for the fast replys. I think I'll try and cut this one down like Alley-Kat showed. If I don't like it then I'll get one of the others.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking for a clear screen door slide

I want to be able to see out the rear door while I'm on the road. I've been trying to figure out what series I need, from what I can tell FWC uses a P-series slide. Has anyone replaced theirs, if so which one did you use. Larry

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My Homemade Awning

Awesome awning. I may be "borrowing" your idea. The Eagle came with an awning but this would be great for the times I take the Subie car camping. Thanks for sharing

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Rimrocker trail...anyone?

Just found a video of some guys doing it on bikes....might be too much for a truck and camper though. May be able to figure out some by-passes of the difficult parts. Now to find a map of the route.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Rimrocker trail...anyone?

Someone from a Tacoma forum was doing it over the Memorial Day holiday but no report yet. I'm just wondering how doable it is for a 4wd truck with a FWC Eagle. Edited the original post for the location.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Wanted small super light truck camper for 2016 tundra 4x4 trd off road regular bed, tell me your opi

I have an 08 Eagle on a 2007 Ram. Had to build a platform to clear the bedrails and cab. I love the fact that it doesn't stick out. If my mirrors fit the camper fits. Stan from Four Wheel sent me a video on how to fit a small camper on a full size truck. Here it is.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West I want a FWC

Right now I have an older Palomino pop-up made for a long bed truck. I like it but I have a 2007 Ram Quadcab short bed and I have to keep the tail gate down to haul it. I've been looking for an older Hawk but as you all know they are hard to come by. I'm frugal (code for cheap) so I have been...
