RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Revisiting heavy duty trucks

Had my Grandby on a 1/2 ton until it died and needed some extra rear leafs for load support, engine had plenty of power but it fell short with regards to braking power when loaded down. Now on a 3/4 ton and seems more than adequate, but will probably go to a 1 ton next truck since they really...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Zodi Hot Showers

Have used numerous setups for camp showers---solar sun shower, Zodi hot tap. Ultimately use solar shower bag to heat (or pre-heat) water and dump into a hand pump sprayer when economizing on water use. Or, if plenty of water available, dump into a plastic bucket...I use an old cat litter...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Drinking house (camper) water

Green slime here also. Actually looks black to me. Drain my tank after every trip and occasionally sanitize my holding tank, and in 20 + years have changed out the tubing from tank to faucet twice, and there does seem to be some dark material that accumulates with time.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Best truck for my 2002 Grandby?

My experience. Have had my Grandby on 2 different trucks. Initially had it on a 1/2 ton with 8 ft bed. Had extra rear leaf springs put on rear to help with load, and even though it handled the weight, I always felt like the braking ability was weak. After 10 years, when looking for a new...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Soliciting suspension upgrade suggestions

In the beginning had my Grandby on a new 1991 F150, and soon realized the rear suspension needed help. Went with air bags which gave a nice ride but after popping them twice went to a good spring shop had more rear leaf springs added. No more worries about leaks, broken air bags etc. The other...

I use a Hijacker receiver mounted step, a 2 step model, # CSR 002. They are made in Canada. Only mod is I had the step firmly welded to the frame of the step to make it more solid. Not sure if this is the vendor I bought from but here is a picture...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Low Cost Mods

Travel with my two furry felines, and needed a boot to provide a wind and insect seal between the truck cab and through the sliding window on my FWC allowing my cats to go back and forth. Finding a boot was hard enough, and getting one made was quoted $200 by an upholsterer. The easy...
