Yogabill, you mean you are tripping a 12v breaker with the fridge? Or are you talking about when feeding it 110V from an external source? If on 12v I can tell you the brand new Dometic 3way in ours draws more then 20a on 12v so it has a 30a breaker on it. and #6 wire. As Rusty mentioned that...

Better pics of what one might charitably refer to as the "technique". Crude but effective.

Hi Folks, On ours I took a little different approach. I had to separate them to do what ended up being a mostly rebuilt top inside the sheet metal. I could not support the bottom of the top on jacks of any kind as there was no material there just mushy, rotten wood. Any attempt to lift there...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 1971 Alaskan 8' CO Rebuild

Hi Rusty. We do like to hose off at the end of a dusty day, so you bet, the shower project was crucial to happiness. It is the "L7" Eccotemp. It hangs only on screw heads that are screwed into the rear panel of the bottom section. Obviously we hang it for use and remove for collapsing and...

A couple of pictures of the shower rig. Used the Eccotemp others have mentioned with a Shurflo demand pump. Plumbed to pull water only from outside sources, 5 gallon bucket etc, not the onboard tank. Red hose is Propane In, Blue hose Cold water in. Shower hose with low flow head completes...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West '84 8' Caobover complete rebuild

Whoa. Just checked out your thread over on Expedition Portal. Seriously impressed with the quality of the work. I'd like to redo the exterior sheet metal someday but don't have that kind of bending/forming skill or experience. Really nice. Hopefully you get out in it soon.

Also curious if anyone has run solar wiring through the roof or out the side and if so how they sealed it up. I have wired for solar as far as the electronics box on the PS, shown here but stewing over best weatherproof seal on the roof and prefer not to use an RV style roof box, even a small...

Hi Folks. A couple more pictures. Very curious how many guys are using tie-downs like Torklift etc vs just bolting the camper into the bed. I just bolted it down but added a few brackets/backing plates to "grab" the camper a little more solidly. We will see if it holds together. The...

Ha! Hi Ripper. I guess we all choose our pain. Grass is always greener ;) I do think you are (were?) onto something with the approach of working outside - in. Did you ever get it done? To answer Rusty's earlier questions. The electrical panel is a combo 12v/120v panel from Paneltronics...

Hi Pawpaw, I would definitely do it Ripper's way if I had to do it again. I thought I would do too much damage to the sheet metal going that route but since I banged it all up anyway (from the inside) I am probably going to reskin at a later date. His idea is just better. I did visit with...

Hi Rusty, I am actually about done. There were definitely a couple of grim years but she looks pretty good now. Some earlier pictures from earlier in the rebuild.

A couple of you have expressed interest in some rebuild details, so here goes. This is where we started. Much of the interior looked ok at first but there was quite a bit of rot in the usual spots. The rotted wood was more like compost - scooped much of it out with gloved hands. The front...

1971 8' CO Rebuild Almost Done

Here she is today. 1971 CO on F350 7.3L. Its been a little over 3 long years of gutting and redoing and she's almost ready to go. Inspired by Wooddog, I may have gotten a little carried away. Will post some before pictures shortly. Lots of rebuild pics if anyone is interested in specifics.
