RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar Panel Hook up

Solar Wiring Suggestion You may wish to consider a pull plug (something that does not lock) on the roof. The idea is create a "weak link" that will come apart if snagged and not tear up the roof or panel. I have done that with my panel with (whew) satifactory results. Don

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Water System Plugged

Outside shower I don't know about your shower. I don't have one. My trailer has a seperate valve assembly for the showere. Is that the way yours works? If so, try cleaning the shower head first. I think there is a valve in the shower head the might might have stuff in it.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Water System Plugged

Troubleshooting ideas Assuming it is a warm day, things will get wet, here are some things I would try to isolate the problem. With the water heater plug open: 1. Run the water pump. If the pump system is clear, water should run from the WH plug. 2. Run water through the city water...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Bedrolls

Travasak Bedding Another option is Travasak bedding. We bought one in 1985 or so and it is still in service. They are pricey but worth it IMHO. They have removable sheets for washing, a summer side and winter side and should easily fit over the bed in the loft with the top down. We bought a...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof Racks

Try Jacks This is the gonzo method to lift the roof but it does work. I saw this done on an outing and I have done it at home but not in the field. I'm planning on carrying a canoe on some trips. The weighs about 75 lbs and I cannot lift the roof with that kind of weight on it. I have the...

 Maybe this is more information than people like to know butt... I settled on Thetford Campa-Chem Natural. It is formaldehyde free. This is important to me because I have an RV dump into my septic tank. It is available in 8 oz. bottle which is easy to store. The fragrance is not...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Weather seal on door

That foam seal is actually a bug/rattle barrier for the screen door. The actual door seal is the black tubing on the inside of the door itself.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West External screws?

You may find that after removing the clamp that a bit of the screw is above the siding. I have used Vise Grips to clamp on to the screw and back it out. Otherwise you would have to drill the screw and use an Ease Out to back out the screw.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West External screws?

Yikes  Cheaper and a lot less time consuming to change those clamps out. They are a standard hardware item and easy to find. I had some screws pull out of the frame on a clamp. I went to a larger screw to fix the problem. the other clamps are fine so I have left them alone. About...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Hello...

Tailgate topic FWC told me that the tailgate was manditory for my Grandby mounted on a short bed PU. The tailgate is necessary to carry the weight of the back end of the camper as Ben described above. I made a wood shim to provide camper to tailgate contact. Mine was even a little more...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West installing an FWC w/ bedliner

Another consideration is that bedliners, unless drained, hold water like a bath tub. Parked with the front on the truck downhill could result in a flooded camper.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Vent fan....

IMHO the Shur-flo fan is a better design and is more economical when used with the Maxxair roof vent cover. In fact, I was first attracted to the Shur-flo when I found it would work on my trailer that has the Maxxair covers. Comparing prices for the Shur-flo Gold series fan and the Maxxair...

I installed the Comfort Air fan today. At first I was disappointed with some noise coming from the motor but after 4 hours of running in both directions the noise has subsided considerably. That is my thinking. The fan blades are quite large. Should not take that much rpm to move air in a camper. What I am after is to draw the cool evening air in when the camper is warm.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof vents pre-wired?

You are correct. What I was trying to convey was that the outside profile of the Comfort Air is the same as a plain Jane vent. The Fantastic Fan has a large dome that can be left open in wet weather. The Comfort Air must be closed during wet weather. The Platinum series has a sensor to close...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof vents pre-wired?

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed but the housing for the Comfort Air vent looks a lot like the vent on the camper. Pull out the the old vent core on the inside and put in the new vent without working on the rook. That would be too cool. The Comfort Air does not have a dome like the...

There shouldn't be a pressure problem at the tank, large or small. The tanks have to pressurized to the point that the propane is compressed to a liquid state. As the propane is used, the liquid boils to replace the lost vapor in the tanks. The regulator reduces the higher tank pressure to...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West LPG Tank question

Horizonal LPG Tank Captiankettle is right. Do not use a vertical tank in the horizontal position. These tanks can be fairly pricey. I was able to locate this type of tank on the net at well under the $200 price quoted by the local RV supply.
