I have the 10 pound AT Overland tank holder. I used flat aluminum stock for the upper and middle cross connecting pieces, and used a 90* L aluminum stock for the bottom piece. I don't always leave it on, but have put thousands of miles on with it attached, with no issues at all.

Just make sure to line it up and attach it with the screen door closed, not open. Don't ask me how I know this is a good idea.

Keep a lightweight jackstand with you in the truck. Then you can use your bottle jack to jack the truck up slightly from the leaf spring, place the jackstand under the axle, then move the bottle jack under the axle and keep jacking it up. I bought a set of these lightweight aluminum jackstands...
