moving camper with roof up

how far can a person move their truck safely with the camper top up??? should 50 feet on relatively smooth ground be safe??
When I first read the question I thought of the following post but couldn't find it until just a few minutes ago...

Missing Link's post (about the FWC owner who often drives with his camper's roof up)

I cannot confirm or deny a similar story to your similar unconfirmed story............

done the drive with front latches undone thing for a few miles hitting about 50 and no damage. Did have a night in eastern wa once were a crazy windstorm came down a narrow canyon and was probably the strongest wind i have ever been in anywhere(maybe 80mph but not sure). got so nervous that we dropped the top and had some of us sleep in the truck and some on the lower bed and floor, but still no damage even through the initial winds for probably 30-40 minutes.

I too am a member of the pop top driving club! I was wondering how come the wind was pushing me around so badly when I caught a glimpse of our shadow I knew what the problem was. Imagine my embarrassment and hoping no other FWC owners saw me!

This idiot I know drove about 10 miles on the freeway at 65 mph with the front latches undone. Lid popped up at some point before my subconscious brain reminded me. No damage other than to the ego. I have moved the camper with the roof all the way up to turn the truck around in the driveway when loading/unloading.
