RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Prepping Ram 2500 for Hawk question

I drilled a hole in the door and ran the wire inside the camper door. Then used some white wire channel I picked up at the ol Home Depot and ran the wire across, bridging over the hinge to the door side, down the inside next to the door, through the floor and plugged in at the factory location...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Prepping Ram 2500 for Hawk question

The Ram bed is not ideal for a Hawk, lengthwise. Not a deal killer by any means. I trimmed my bumpers down (on a table saw) so I'm sitting maybe a 1/4 to the front of the bed. No issues, been that way for a couple years. I also relocated the camera to the door. 360° works just fine.

Here's my setup. 2020 Ram 2500. Built the platform myself. For the electrical run I just drilled a hole.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West furnace thermostat altitude issue

If you haven't done so already, remove the ducting. Based on my super scientific calculations from read this forum (and doing the same to fix my 2+ years of furnace issues) this solves 99.9% of all FWC furnace issues.

That's a dream setup right there. Love the design of those boats. That bow gives it the "offroad" look.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New hawk. Is this normal?

Is that a new Tundra? How does it handle with the camper? Have you done any suspension upgrades?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Turnbuckle?

Out of desperation in the middle of Death Valley I used a ratchet strap as a backup once. So I would say yes. Also I would recommend carrying two, that was my mistake I only had one spare. I unexpectedly caught air, my bad it was late I was tired and rushing to camp. Both rear turnbuckles broke...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grandby Exterior Molle Rack

Screws in every hole but not all hit framing. I linned it up and it just so happened that the outside hit framing and a couple of thr middle. The rest are decorative. Been on for years and carries my "trasharoo ", no issues.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West forced air furnace and power

This may sound crazy and i might get flack for this but I don't think it's a power issue. Remove the duct work from your heater to the grate. That 100% solved all my heater problems. Do the opposite of what I did, start with the easy stuff and move to the complicated (expensive) stuff.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Match bench carpet in Silver Spur Shell

I found the exact same carpet for my non silver spur 2017 shell model at home depot on the roll. Might want to check there. FWC doesn't use anything super special.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone vs Airlift airbags

I've had both, Firestone on previous truck, Airlift on current truck. I went with Airlift this time around because the model for my truck comes with a built in "bump stop". I would see which features each company includes on their bags for your model truck. Not all are built the same...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone w/ a Tacoma have to change a tire? (Jack good enough?)

I purchased one of these. I run a bit heavier of a setup with a 2500 Ram but with any vehicle with added weight of a camper its better safe than sorry. https://safejacks.com/collections/bottle-jack-accessories/products/basic-bottle-jack-kit

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2017 - about ready to throw the heater in the garbage.

Found a solution! I got to thinking of Old Crows idea of modifying the sail switch with a larger paddle. That then lead me to - I can see gaps around whete the sail switch where it mounts to the blower motor. Could it be enough air is escaping and flowing around the switch itself? So I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propex Heater - Install

Might have ran into a snag on the gas venting. Apparently the gas vent and fresh supply lines are almost 4 feet long and you CAN NOT cut them. Hum.....how and where to route these lines????

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2017 - about ready to throw the heater in the garbage.

I'm in no way implying FWC is at fault here, assuming that is the issue. I think Dometic/Atwood had a design flaw and FWC used and mounted the furnace in accordance to what the manufacturer stated. Again, I am not 100% sure what I found is the issue but until I'm proven wrong I am sticking...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Trash bag mount on back of camper

Thought I would share this with the group. Wanting a way to carry trash, and my spout for my extra fuel tank that was not in the cab or camper I came up with the idea to use some unused real estate on the back of the camper. I used left over airline track as the mounting base. Drilled...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propex Heater - Install

So I have decided to give up the fight with my Dometic/Attwood. I am looking at the Propex heater. Has anyone installed one of these in their camper? How has it been working out? https://www.propexheatsource.com/ I'm leaning towards staying with propane as I really don't want to run a line...
