I'll be heading for Baja in early September. It's a pretty unique trip. Four riders on 150cc retro-styled California Scooter Company motorcycles. I'm providing the chase truck to carry luggage, extra fuel, water, and even a spare bike.

It's all pavement and we'll be staying in hotels and eating in restaurants. But it is driving the entire length of the Baja peninsula, on tiny motorbikes, twice. So I'd still call it adventure travel. I think I have the easiest job on the trip: Sit in a big comfy truck with air conditioning and satellite radio. We're planning about 2000 Baja miles. And it's a 1200-mile roundtrip from my home to the border.

So it's not really a WtW sort of trip. But I thought you might be interested.

You can read about some of the planning on the California Scooter Company blog at:

And I'll write about it on my blog at www.americansahara.com, most likely after I return.

Back home last night from Baja. Odometer shows 3,250 miles since leaving home on September 9. About 2,200 miles in Baja.

A fantastic trip with a great bunch of people. And a few things that stretched my personal comfort envelope such as eating cabeza tacos from a roadside stand on a dirt street and spending an hour in a Mexican police station while the officers debated just how many infracciones I was actually guilty of.

You can read about the trip and see some video on the California Scooter Company blog at:

Be sure to check the earlier blog entries for more pictures and stories from the trip.

I've got about a zillion photos of my own and some video to sort through. Look for that soon.

And if you have ever wanted to go to Baja, do it.
