Riley's Human
The vehicle fire thread got me to thinking. I was going to post up on fire extinguishers, pros cons and what not but I've decided not to. I do have a preference for foam (similar to afff, not the heavy foams). Its great for class a and b fires and class c is unlikely so I'm not concerned with that.
I happen to have five gallons of Fireade 2000. Its more than a lifetime supply for me and I'd be happy to share if anyone would like some. You do need to obtain a water extinguisher and new they aren't cheap. Its mixed at a 3%-6% solution so it goes a long ways.
The guys that used to sell foam extinguishers turnkey have stopped selling for some reason. While the 2.5 gal water extinguishers are pretty common smaller ones you'd probably have to source at a fire extinguisher company.
Here's a couple mine. The red one is the only non afff type.
The one in the rear lives in the house. The one on the left is Israeli made and rate for 300 psi. Cold fire is similar if not the same as fireade 2000. The jug.
Now there are issues with a foam like this and freezing though so far on overnighters in freezing conditions I've never had one freeze. Plenty of youtube videos out there demonstrating the stuff.
You need a compressor to fill the extinguisher to 100psi but we should all have that capabiltiy.
I think you can see why I said I may have had a better chance of extinguishing that Jeep than the guy did with his dry chem.
Btw, doesn't go bad, no need to periodically shake your extinguisher and its the only agent I'd want sprayed on me if I were on fire.
I have CO2, and dry chem but those are mostly relegated to the shed other than an old halon extinguisher that sits here by the computer.
