Firestone vs Airlift airbags

claws said:
I talked to my mechanic yesterday and they said that the Firestone air bags are available but the on board compressors, remotes, etc. are on indefinite back order. The bags can be installed but need to be filled manually. The compressor and other accessories can be installed when they become available. Don't know if this info is helpful to you or not.

I have on board air for my ARB differential locker and for airing up tires. I've never used it to fill the air bags back when I had air bags (I recently ditched air bags for custom leaf spring pack). When I had air bags, I would fill them at home to the desired pressure before heading out on a trip. They never leaked. At home I used my shop compressor however it would be very easy to use a bicycle foot pump since they have a small volume. On board air is not really required for air bags alone.

I carried a small bike pump or small CO2 pump in my truck for topping off. It was pretty quick and easy (depending on where you mount the Schrader Valve), they don't hold a ton of air.
