front mounted bike racks

Hi all,
Anyone have experience with front mounted bike racks? Specifically, on the first generation Tacoma?
We want to carry 2 bikes and are wondering if the bikes will ride well on the front and what type of bike rack would we need to get so that the bikes do not block our view of the road.
I've googled and only found one picture of a 1st gen Tacoma with a bike on the front.

I have a 2013 Tacoma, but maybe my experience will help. I fashioned a front mount bike rack from an old rear mount rack, including a piece that allows it to insert into my front receiver hitch. It is important for the bike to be far enough off the ground you don't risk hitting a wheel when entering a driveway and low enough to see over. Let me know if you need more details.
