Hi all

In a few months we get our Hallmark RV (yay!) and I'll need to purchase in advance a good wide folding stool for this pop up truck camper: so I can open and close the roof latches , and also deploy the AluCab 270 awning.

Any guesses as to how tall of the wide folding stool or platform i'll need?

This kind looks good, but it only gets me 9" height. I strongly suspect not high enough. Any thoughts?

It'll be on a 4X4 F350 with 18" rims and mild AT tires.

Keep in mind sometimes we'll be camping on uneven ground, off road, so a traditional step ladder with the frame running across the bottom would be unstable. 4 legs would be much better.

Thanks for any and all suggestions. :)

Are you using it to enter and exit the camper as well? I have the 3-step Little Giant and would highly recommend it. Very, very sturdy and strong. Fold nice and flat (I stow it on the floor of the camper - first thing out, last thing in) . If it walked away today, I'd buy another tomorrow.
I cut the flip-up handle and little casters off mine.

To clarify - no, the Hallmark has it's own fold out stairs that attach to bumper.
but this 3 step looks super sweet... and as I get older I like the handle thing.... can never be too careful, especially after a long day of driving and then 1/2 a beer. ;-)

thanks for posting!

Are you positive you will need one for latches? I have F250 and my wife is 5' 4" she steps on bumper and side steps to latch our Hawk?

thanks - our 4X4 will be a few inches higher than non (not sure if you have 4x4)

and also I'll need to deal with the AluCab 270 to open and close it... pretty sure i will need something to step on for that alone

:)

I have a Hallmark Everest on my F-350 with a 2” lift on 35’s so my truck is at least as tall as yours.

My wife does the front latches by standing on the running boards and I do the rear ones by stepping on the Torque Lift bases and holding onto the jacks. Works well and I’m 5-8..

So we don’t carry an extra stool.

Have you thought of a work platform? I have one that I use for entering/exiting my camper. It also serves as place to sit to put shoes on and off and as a table by the chair. I have used it to stand on to clean the soft sides. Lot of companies made/sell them. Note that there is a ladder step on both sides.

+1 We have used a couple of these 'sheetrockers' platforms for a few years. They work extremely well and are pretty tough, very light and fold up nicely.
