How do you level your rig?

I have used 2x4's, rocks and you name it, for years and have forgot about them being there, driven off and left then in place more times than I care to remember. While my forgetfulness has created many new archaeological sites scattered across the west to puzzle future archaeologists, those other times when I forgot to bring my wooden blocks or even worse could not find any leveling materials over the years convinced me (especially when I still had an old 3 way frig) to invest in a set of those plastic leveling blocks (Mine are red). I placed them on the floor behind the front drivers seat where they sit until I need them....and "Yes" they work anywhere out in the boonies too and not just in RV parks ???? and were worth every cent I payed for them ! I also have a carpenters level to help make sure my morning fried eggs are perfect.

I use a combination of two by eights and rubber pavers.

I use a combination of Camco Legos and a few 2 x 8 x 8 planks.
- plastic blocks are about 1/2 the weight of pine planks.
- the 1" height makes it easy to figure level:
1" = 0.5º front to back, 1" = 1º side to side; I use the iPhone level app.
- legos lock together, so they don't slide when stacked.
I can climb onto 3 without building a ramp (less blocks in front of stack).
- a lot of places that I camp have no natural stuff to use.
- I try to minimize the trace I leave behind.

My biggest problem is the legos will sink into soft ground. So this winter I am going to make a (or 2) 9 x 16 x 0.5 plywood base(s).

I’ve used redwood 2x8s; redwood as it’s softer and lasts longer before finally splitting (Douglas fir splits quickly), and 2x8 plus some 1x8 to fully support tire tread. Tread perched on narrow boards may weaken internal tire structure. Driving over an irregularly-shaped rock is one thing, but some warn that hours on something irregular can cause weakness that may lead to problems down the road.

I downloaded the app and leveled my truck, and everything's pretty cool but it's in metric. I know 2.5cm ~/= 1", but it would be easier to work in inches thanks to six decades of training. I thought the video showed inches, but can't find any setting to change.
Anyone figure out how to switch to archaic imperial units ?

That just popped my brain! I’ve just used a regular level and semi-educated guessing. Can’t wait to try the Truma app!

I feel a bit sheepish having one of our metric neighbors help me figure out I need to back up to the home screen.
Now I keep putting the phone on our furniture inside the house to see how out of level our 48 year old home's floors are.

I leveled my truck bed using a six foot level yesterday (camper is currently in the garage) and looked for a spot inside the cab to put my phone that was flat and level with the truck bed. In the RAM there was a lower tray that worked but the phone sits sideways to the truck. The beach ball display still works as a nice bubble level, but with that orientation won't tell me how much to level each tire.

I think I'll reprogram the wheelbase and width in the app to say my truck has a wheelbase of 66" and is 139" wide and see what happens. That's the center of each wheel.

I tried it, and it works! I can lay my phone sideways and get an accurate reading now.
