So I guess you're not in a position to bring your cat(s) with you? But if you're interested in doing so, there's a 'camping with a cat' thread here on WTW somewhere. We've been bringing our kitty (17 y.o. now) with us for years; she goes everywhere we wander, and anyone could tell she enjoys it. Just a thought...

That's a wonderful thing you do; one of my sons and his wife rescue special needs dogs. Takes a big heart to do that.
