I have followed Steph and Leigh for several years now and have gained many insights and much inspiration by following their journey. They have a few videos where they speak of their raised platform. I like that they have been using this system continuously, for several years, over some of the harshest overlanding routes around the world.
I agree about having a 'basement'. It would be a good space for carrying oversized, seldom needed, dirty, or heavy tools, spares, and gear.
