I searched and can't find a topic so sorry in advance if I missed it. Wondering what you fellow wander's are getting mpg wise in your rigs on the hwy. I have my camper on a 1990 Ford F-250 manual std cab long bed. Last 600 mile road trip doing 75 mph i avg just over 11 mpg. Best I have gotten in the old rig is around 12 mpg. Doesn't matter if I have the camper on or not. Doesn't really effect me.

'95 Dodge Ram 12 valve with Grandby. Highway driving 55-60 we can get 18mpg.

I get 13.5 combined with the camper on. Pretty much the same at highway speeds. '13 Tundra 5.7. I'll take it.

just wondering what do you get if you are doing 75 mph? How much does it drop off?

'06 Cummins at 72-73mph (1900rpm) = 14mpg

900 miles to Michigan (pretty flat) last week pulling 8.5x17 trailer at 72mph = 11.5mpg. This surprised me because I've never gotten better than 10mpg previously w/ a flush Leer capper, have gotten 8mpg at times. Only thing I can figure is its a better aero package with the camper.

when I tow my 7k toy hauler I get around 6-7 mpg. My newer gmc gas with the 6.2 does much better around 8-10 pulling it. But kinda limited off road.

'07 Tundra (5.7) '14 Hawk. If I keep the RPMs below 2000 (about 68 mph) then I get 13-15. Above that it drops to 11-13.

13 - 14 mpg @ 65 mph with gas F-250 and fully loaded Grandby. Anything over 65 and it drops to around 11 mpg.

On our way home from Overland Expo I got 15-16 mpg.
3500 Chevy Silverado diesel.
I probably average 14-17 with the camper on.

Overall mileage on my gas f250 is just over 12, most with camper on. I try to keep it below 65, like longhorn mileage suffers above that. All history available in fully link below.

Ah...you folks are quoting pavement mileage...how about off road?

I know it really is only an academic discussion; cuz it doesn't matter. When you need fuel, you fuel up and pay the piper.

You play you pay. Only reason for me to guess what my mileage will be is to plan my off road trips where fuel stops are few and far between.

Short off road trip [100+ miles] with new Hawk on '05 Tundra A/C SR5 4x4 [ about 6,900+ lbs GVW] ...12.7 mpg, of course your mileage may vary! :D

Oh yes, I never run OD anymore; hate to run the 4.7 motor at 2K rpms pulling this weight. Try to not drop below 2.4-2.5K on level and 2.8+ going up grades. just me.

I never drive that fast but at around 65mph it drops off to about 14-15

Minnesota to Southern Utah to Montana to Minnesota, 5000 miles.
68 MPH highway, 15 - 30 MPH FS roads.
87 & 88 octane.

13.3 MPG

2012 Ram 2500 5.7L 4X4 automatic, Grandby; 7920 lbs. camping weight.

Touring thru Idaho last week we got 17mpg at 60 mph on highway over two passes keeping rpms around 2k. Really good mpg cruising dirt roads at 1500 rpm haha.
7.3L n/a diesel 5 speed manual

I now have 9700 miles on my 2016 F150 with 3.5L EB (gas) (specs in sig) in my first 3 months. I have 12.8mpg lifetime so far.

Every tank fill was recorded and corrected for tire size/speedo error with basic notes on load conditions. 8700 miles of that 9700 was carrying the Hawk and most of it also towing my boat (18ft Alumaweld fishing boat) from Seattle to Phoenix to Florida then back home via Denver - so windage, mountains, and carrying max payload :). It happens that the displayed mpg matches very close with my corrected numbers due to canceling errors and corrections.

I lose 3-4mpg going from 55mph to 70mph. Saw almost 18mpg doing 55mph down I-5 from Redding to outside LA (400 flat miles). Everywhere else was mountains and 70+mph speeds and some high winds in the plains states. Without the large headwinds I can eek out 14mpg on flat ground at 65-68mph. The key is to keep my foot out of the turbos, hard to do :)

2012 Ram 2500 w/ Hemi gas and 3.73 axle. Now that we put the Flatbed Hawk on lost about a mpg down to 13 mpg @ 65 mph. My guess is more weight and higher profile than the slide-in hawk we had before. Still worth it.
