Mpg report

2008 Nissan Titan with loaded FWC Hawk on it. I average 13mpg. Wish i could get 15, but considering i paid only $18k for a used loaded truck, i justify to myself that i just saved a lot of money that i can burn in gas.

2012 ford f-350 crew cab,4x4, 1500 lb. Granby , 6.2 liter . two lane , 62 miles per hour , 13 mpg , hilly curvy western wisconsin roads .

I just got back from TX to Alaska driving a 2002 SR5 4x4 Access Cab V6 5-speed manual with fully loaded ATC Ocelot. I try to keep it under 65 mph. One interesting thing I found is that while driving slower and in the mountains (much of the time in 4th gear or lower) my mpg increased. I drove all over the Oregon mountains and got 20.5 mpg mostly at 45 mph or less from La Pine to Crater Lake and north west to Roseburg OR out to Bullards Beach SP on US101 ending at Crescent City Ca. I took US 50 from Carson City NV to Lake City CO I got around 19 mpg, great highway at about 55 mph with a tail wind. First day, I got 15 and 13.4 mpg from Plano TX to Salina KS on I35 into a head wind at 65 mph. Attached is my milage log.

In the Log for Canada I converted liters to gallons and used a factor of 0.8 for Canadian dollars to US.

Just looking over your MPG log.Very impressive.
Also didn't realize your truck is V6 5 speed.
Mine is V8 auto 4X4,but I can get about the same MPG as you.
Usually about 16.Don't travel much over 65.

The far right column is a weight average milage based on number of miles (gallons x miles) / total miles.

FINALLY got my Hawk shell on 2014 Ram 1500 ecodiesel quad cab 4X4. Mild mods are lift/level, cold air intake, and muffler delete. Without camper 30 hwy/ 24 around town driving gently.
With camper 24 hwy/ 22 around town

17.75mpg freeway at 65+ mph in a 6 cyl auto frontier hauling an FWC Eagle. 4x4, oversize (heavy!) tires.
It seems about 3mpg lower than the unloaded truck for city or highway.

Of course we were southbound, that's all downhill, right?

Just got back from Colorado. We averaged 18.8 mpg. Between Espanola and Santa Fe we did a lot of mountain driving several miles in low low 4-wheel drive and went over several passes (Spring Creek Pass, Slumgullion Pass, Monarch Pass, Poncha Pass, Wolf Creek Pass). On the highway we keep it between 55 and 60 mph

2002 GMC 2500HD with Alison 5 speed transmission and 8.1L Big block gasser; Hawk camper. 10K miles logged.

Best was 12.87 mpg. Average is 11.11 mpg. at 70 mph I get 12. Got 10.87 on the Burr Trail. I normally do not set the cruise higher than 80 mph, even if that is the speed limit. Speedo check with GPS and is accurate.

2016 Tacoma V6 4 door with fleet flatbed - lifetime average 16.3 mpg over ~9,000 miles. Generally 15-16mpg on the highway at 70mph. Down to 12-13 mpg with a head wind, heading up to the divide or with speeds over 80mph. ~17mpg on secondary roads at 50 - 55mph, which is what we prefer.

2005 F250 Power Stroke-On my first big trip in March, (2,000 miles through Death Valley, Nevada and Utah) I averaged about 13.5mpg. On some of the 70-80MPH highways I had really strong headwinds and mileage went as low as 11mpg on some tanks . Before I got my Hawk, I had a regular camper shell and I would average about 15mpg. I wish there was a way to reduce air drag....
Update: I replaced my wide 17" mud terrain tires with a set of 18" take-off wheels and tires (Goodyear Wrangler) from a 2017 f250 and on my July trip through Idaho and Wyoming I averaged almost 15mpg. In addition to noticeably better mpg, I have a smoother and quieter ride and the truck still did great off-road.

dharte, is the tire diameter the same on the new tires as it was on the old tires?

cwd

Slightly taller with the new tires. My GPS mph display is spot on with my speedometer.

2016 2500 4x4 6.0 Crew 8' Grandby Shell. 13.5 @ 75 mph interstate empty. 12 @ 70 mph loaded. Hope to improve when it breaks in.
