Need help - FourWheel Camper Jacks in Santa Barbara, Anyone Willing to let me borrow for the afterno

Does anyone in Santa Barbara have the Fourwheel Camper jacks? If so, would you be willing to let me borrow for an afternoon to adjust my Project M...... Posted originally on Expedition Portal.

Ok so here's the reason,

I finally made it out to put a proper shakedown on my new project M FWC. I was worried ever since I drove 6 hours to pick up my camper that the mounting system wasn't going to cut it, well.... it doesn't. I ran about 40 miles in the desert and the camper slid towards the cab. Nothing crazy, but enough to shift the camper. Can't close the rear door and the metal seal they install is nearly touching the cab. I totally regret not buying the jack stands (I was planning to be at the grand opening in SoCal and buying them there but with the closure I don't know when they'll open).

If anyone can help there's a case a beer in it for you. Cheers.

I am not familiar with your type FWC camper but wanted to say one can generally shift or relocate an FWC Hawk little by little on the truck bed without jacks.

Do you only need to shift things a bit after loosening the turnbuckles?

I’m going to jump in here with some assumptions. The FWC “M” Project mounts up like a topper to the truck’s bed rails. Since it slid forward I’m going to assume they use clamps to secure it rather than drilling through the rails.

Two years ago on Desert Trip 18, my new Leer tall fiberglass topper slid backwards several inches...twice in 2 days. Yup, they use clamps, three on each side. With help from the boys we slid it forward and retightened but it’s my belief that the torsional forces that are transmitted from an uneven desert terrain (perhaps at speed? ) up through the bed to the rails will cause the topper to shift...continually.

Check with FWC before voiding your warranty but you may have to do what I have...bolt the topper to the rails. It doesn’t need to be Iron Man tight, just enough to allow the seals to work.

Looking forward to reading how you, and FWC, solve this. I really like the concept.

I am in Solvang. If you have metal jack brackets attached to your camper I have four jacks you can borrow.
