Yes I'd have to agree when you describe it that vividly.
I've been scouring the maps, paper and online, around Black Point. I've read you can camp there at the non-existant trail head but can't imagine anyone does. I did manage to locate Donna's place and it looks like there's a lot of spots around there to camp. My concern is regarding my friends 2wd Dodge promaster camp van and where he might get stuck around that area.

Loved your report. Had a little trouble figuring out exactly where some of your spots were located. My wife and I camped along the south end of the lake at the end of March this year. We were just outside of the restricted area for camping near the lake. What an amazing place! Hiking among the tuffa's is quite an experience. I have also kayaked out to the island on the lake (when birds were not nesting) and could not believe how HOT the water was.
